"Great experience!"

Excellent service. We got there around 9:00 PM and restaurant staff waited for us to serve us an amazing 7 course meal. I would stay there again

"Fairy tale just outside Chinon"

10.0

Fairy tale experience. Dinner at the chateau was magnificent, don't miss this experience. The horses, the vineyards, the view all awe-inspiring. I'd just like to pick up this castle and move it to the center of Chinon.

"Quiet Elegance!"

10.0

Wonderful old castle in the French countryside. If you are looking for a quiet but elegant experience in the Loire Valley then Chateau Marcay is the place. Note that it does not have air conditioning but the windows do open. The restaurant has great food and an excellent wine cellar.

"Magnificent & luxurious."

10.0

Took a trip to the Loire Valley & stayed at this marvelous chateau. The chateau is a very old castle with great European style. Our dinner there was second to none & the service was perfect. It is a bit off the beaten path but is a true jewel in the Frnch countryside. It does not have A/C so the rooms might be warm during the summer but the windows open to the outside for cooling. Definitely recommend staying here.

"A Chateau hotel with style"

10.0

The Hotel and staff were superb although we were disappointed when we arrived as we were told that the restaurant was not open that evening. If booking this hotel check if the restaurant is open! We therefore had to drive back to Chinon to find a restaurant for an evening meal. The following evening we did enjoy the restaurant facilities. This is not inexpensive but the menu was fantastic. We trusted in the Sommelier to chose our wines, which he did extremely well and he did not chose expensive ones. On the down side, although the superior room was extremely good, there were no tea or coffee making facilities, which we were expecting, paying that sort of money. Also the toilet paper was cheap quality, not as expected. The above two little moans did not spoil our stay.

"Stately and unique "

Had a overnight at the Chateau in July 2014. Arrived a little late so didn't make the most of it really. It is a lovely setting and we enjoyed the fine dining experience.

"Outstanding location"

8.0

A proper French Chateau with turrets in the countryside.Excellent stay. Breakfast in the grounds to remember on a sunny summer's morning. Michelin star rated dining was too fussy. Wifi was hard to access, if at all.

"A quality Hotel, excellent for exploring the Region"

8.0

It was very hot weather and the room in the annex, although to a high standard was like an oven Day and night. .Air conditioning is needed in this type of weather. The menu was to a high gourmet level but quite expensive. Also the menu was somewhat limited in its offerings. It was not a question of money but we could not eat there every night because of the lack of variety. Something more simple from time to time in Chinon was a treat. We ( my wife and I ) had two meals at the Chateau which cost almost as much as the 4 night stay. Staff were great. Always helpful. We enjoyed our time here.

""posh" hotel for a special time in the Loire "

8.0

The chateau de Marcay looks so impressive as you approach it and the immediate impression is of luxury and prestige. We were welcomed superbly and shown our room in the annex by the friendly staff. The bar is equally friendly and comfortable.... the rooms are large and well-appointed. Sadly the weather was not good enough for us to use the pool much or the tennis courts etc. We did eat in the restaurant though and we were a little disappointed. It was very expensive and the food was overly complex and lacked a clarity of taste. We much preferred some of the local restaurants and so only went the chateau's once. We also thought that the breakfast was extremely expensive, backed up by other guests. We saved our selves nearly 200 euros by taking our breakfast in Chinon. If you only have yoghurt, fruit ad croissant then you will make a big saving. However we are glad we went but just wish there were better priced food options available
