Hotel Europe Garni

Honestly I didn't expect much before staying at this hotel because I booked it only to avoid the crowdiness in Zermatt. However, the ladies who greeted us at the front desk really made our day. She is so nice and enthusiastic. I really enjoy chatting with her. Though the hotel looks quite old and isn't fancy in decoration. It has a nostalgic feel in its overall setting and the most important it is clean and smell nice. Also, it is just opposite to the Brig station, it is great for us to get up on the Glacier Express. If you like me, that is afraid of the crowds, try this little hotel in Brig. One last thing to mention, they have a very nice restaurant with very good breakfast.

Yet again I spent time at this wonderful hotel located directly opposite the main stations in Brig (but no disturbance from the trains). The room was clean and comfortable, the welcome was warm, the breakfast was amazing and the prices are very, very reasonable. Thoroughly recommended, which is why I keep coming back when travelling between Geneva and Canton Uri. This is a perfect hotel to stay in if you have arrived at Geneva airport late afternoon but need to get as far up the Rhone Valley as possible the same evening.

Just a half block down from the station door. so very handy if travelling by rail. Very friendly staff greeted us. The room is a little tight, only one chair to sit on. But very clean. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was great. Only sheer curtains on the windows, so if you need it very dark to sleep, this may not work; on the other hand we had a great view of the mountains. The bed is VERY firm foam; had to use the duvets as additional "mattress covers" and used our travel blankets for covers. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping, lovely walking plazas, and the local schloss.

We travelled on the Glacier Express from St. Moritz heading to Montreux and chose to break the journey at Brig where we changed trains, so we wanted a hotel close to the station. The Hotel Garni suited our purpose well; it is close to the station but wasn’t noisy. We received a very warm welcome on arrival and the staff we met during our stay were very friendly and helpful. Our room was small but was clean and it met our needs; the bed was comfortable. The en-suite was also small but it was a good shower. We had a good breakfast, home-made preserves. This was a good, convenient hotel for an overnight stay.

Hotel was conveniently located near the train station. However, it was a bit noisy.

The receptionist was VERY helpful and kind! The hotel is in a great location! Just across the street from the train station. But not to worry we could not hear the train from our room. The trains are electric. Great shower.

Basic but great place to stay for a short stop over. Awesome breakfast and very friendly owners. Our train to Zermatt got cancelled and we had to find accommodation in Brig. These guys were kind enough to open the hotel and let us in very late at night.
