"Not the best place to stay"

6.0

This hotel is located close to Manneken Pis and within a walkable distance to the other touristic attractions of Brussels. However is not the best place to stay, rooms are small without aircon and if the room is on the street end of the building will be very noisy. The only thing that save the hotel is the staff, they were friendly, helpful and provided good advise on places to visit.

"Horrendous Experience"

2.0

Very nice check in person, and that is the only positive. Room was atrocious, I felt unsafe and uncomfortable. Bathroom was filthy and stained everywhere. Strange noises coming from the room beside mine. Ill fitting door with only one basic/flimsy lock. Hotel smelled foul as well. Location is a very sketchy area. I left the room after 10 minutes and never came back. Found a much more pleasant place in another neighbourhood of Brussels. I would never stay there, even if you paid me.

"In a nut shell - cheap n' chearful"

6.0

Room need a lot of maintenance, loose floor and tiles. No tea making facilities Widow looked out at a brick wall - so no actual sunlight came in and needed the lights on I would be embarrassed to show photographs of the room to family and friends

"Very close to the grote markt"

8.0

Good and clean place, 10 min walking to the Grote Markt and to the Brussel Zuid train station. Close to supermarkets, stores and many restaurants.

"Only to sleep"

6.0

This hotel is only good if you want a place walking distance to the train station and to the city centre. We sort of had an idea what to expect after previous reviews but the experience still had lots left to be desired. The checkin was quite straightforward and it is definitely a hotel you would only want to sleep in after a tired day's sightseeing. Half the stuff in the room was broken including the lights, but we hardly spent much time there which was good. The neighbourhood felt a bit sketchy, at night it was packed full of men and there were no women in sight. Being 2 females, we were of course a bit uneasy but no one bothered us nor did we spend much time outside except to race back to the hotel.

"Great for a short trip on a budget"

8.0

A friend and I stayed here while visiting Brussels in mid-December. While it definitely wasn't 5 stars, it was perfect for two college kids on a quick trip- and it was certainly better than a hostel. The room was clean, had a working ensuite bathroom, and free wifi which was all we were looking for. The staff was friendly, and the location was perfect. The neighborhood felt safe with lots of good restaurants and notable sights well within walking distance. I'm definitely going to recommend this place for other friends traveling to Brussels!

"Convenient Hotel for Young Travelers"

8.0

The room I stayed in required some adjustments on my part so that I could find my way around it. It was a bit too tight. There were shelves and hangers instead of a closet. With a big luggage to place on the floor, you will have to mind your steps. But if you know that you won't be spending much time in your room and you only need it as a cheap, safe, neat and tidy place to crash in at night, these things don't matter and this hotel is perfect for you. The staff was very friendly. My room was tidied up and cleaned everyday. You can get a city map for free at the hotel. The hotel doesn't have a sign that you can see from the end of the street. So when you get to Rue du Berger from the Porte de Namur Metro Station, just keep walking up the street until you see the hotel on your left. Don't walk to the hotel from Gare du Midi (even though it's just a 30-minute walk) because it's a rough uphill walk to the hotel. Take the metro from Gare du Midi to Porte de Namur, and walk to the hotel from there.

"basic accomodations at convenient location"

6.0

Floor mats inside the hotel Aristote indicate that it was once three star, and remnants of that can be seen in the faded former dining room (now the breakfast room) where only a few naked light bulbs in the chandeliers are lit. It now deserves its two stars, providing basic but clean accomodations in a convenient location. My single room had only a small, high window, apparently opening into a space between buildings and partly covered by the wardrobe. Almost no natural light entered the room, but that was OK as I was in the room only to sleep and bathe. The naked light bulbs provided better illumination for reading than the more attractive fixtures in more expensive hotels that I have stayed in on this trip. The single bed was comfortable and I like the blanket provided much better than an upscale duvet, which I hate. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the cold buffet breakfast was adequate for the price. Information about getting to the hotel was inadequate, leading me to walk from the Midi RR station, whereas there is a Metro stop only a block from the hotel (one stop from the station) and using it would have made getting to the hotel with my luggage much easier.

"Location good, hotel baaaad"

4.0

10 mins walk (through a not particularly great area...) from Brussels-Midi, another 5-10mins walk up to the main Square, so location is spot on for a short stay and cost 'just' 75 Euros. Although the staff were friendly enough and spoke good English, the hotel itself verges on the oppressive. Our room was falling to bits and had a particularly lovely view of a brick wall and alley way/local dumping ground. It was a little like something out of Se7en, but with a decent shower.

"Hotel Aristote, Brussels, 9-12 August 2013"

8.0

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Aristote - it was very convenient for the Brussels Midi/Zuid railway station and lots of other shops nearby. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful and fluent in English. The room was basic, with no kettle/drinks facilities, which would have been useful; and there were only Belgian TV channels (French and Dutch language only), but this was only a minor criticism.
