Hotel Umberto A Mare

This was the absolute best place to stay on the island of Ischia. Quiet, intimate, with gorgeous sunset views. I loved being able to walk down the steps into the sea, and I always had a shady lounger waiting for me. It was only a 5-minute walk to the shops/restaurants of Forio, and very close to the taxi stand at the harbor. Breakfast was wonderful every day, and you just can’t beat that scenery. Every hotel employee went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, and it was really just a perfect place to experience the beauty of Ischia.

The bathrooms could use an update, but we’re not that picky so it was mostly fine (other than a weird smell coming from the exhaust fan- we just didn’t use the fan after discovering that). I had also hoped the cafe might be open for a spritz later in the day, but I only ever saw it open at breakfast. If it did have later hours, it would have been helpful to leave some information in the room about that. We got an overview when we checked in, but it was a lot to remember.

bed was a bit hard. there were clumps of hair and dead insects on the bathroom floor when we checked in. there is no receptionist, so communication and attentive service is lacking.

Amazing location, friendly staff, great restaurant. Easy access to the water. We were so sad to leave.

This was the most beautiful hotel on the island. The location is perfect and the breakfast was exceptional. The restaurant in the hotel is the best on the island for food and sunset. Marco and the staff are wonderful!
