Il Granaio dei Casabella

Comfortable beds, easy walking distance to site and restaurants.

We went to Paestum to visit the archeological site, and stayed 2 nights at Il Granaio. The hotel is located about 10 minutes walk from the main entrance to the site, so it is very convenient if that's your reason for visiting Paestum. Il Granaio a short taxi ride/longish walk from the train station, so you don't need a car. There's a nice selection of restaurants and cafes nearby. It's nice to stay overnight because it's great to see the temples lit up at night. The staff was very helpful, especially with an awkward payment issue we had. They serve a very nice breakfast in a very pleasant room. Our only complaint was that the bed was extremely hard.

The hotel is recommended for visitors to Paestum. It is at distance of a few minutes' walk from the archaeological site. The hotel is in a nice building with adjacent parking. The rooms are large and spacious. The shower is a bit cramped but bath room is of relatively reasonable size. The main disadvantage of the hotel is that it does not have an elevator and we had to carry the suitcases 3 stories up the stairs. Breakfast was good and included good coffee upon order, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, cold cuts, vegetables, cereals, yogurt and a selection of cakes.

It has been a long time wish of mine to visit the spectacular temples of Paestum I chose the Il Granaio dei Casabella purely as a cheaper hotel, close to the temples. To use for two nights. On arrival I was pleasantly surprised to find it appeared to be a converted farmhouse. It was stunning. With very spacious lounge areas furnished with period furniture. Our room was on the second floor ( No lift ). It was huge and again had period farm furniture. Very good seperate bathroom. When I looked out of our window I was greeted with a view of one of the temples. Amazing! The breakfast was of a high standard. continetal style. The grounds of the hotel were landscaped and we spent a very pleasent afternoon relaxing in them, enjoying the sun. We had a hire car and there was free secure parking within the hotel grounds. Walking to the temples, took but 10 minutes. Plenty of good restaurants to choose from. A good variety of cafes to sit and admire the temples We enjoyed our stay so much, we returned a week later and stayed another night

Our only complaint was the bed and pillows were hard. Besides that we had a great stay there.

Did not live up to expectations based on on line viewing. Room needed some repairs, shower stall peeling and base not appealing with cracks and holes. Bed was hard as a rock.

Booked this hotel to visit the temples at Paestum. The hotel is a converted farmhouse with period furniture. Our room was extremely big. Our window had views of one of the temples. Very nice gardens to relax in. Could not have asked for a better hotel Thank you all the staff who made our stay perfect

Staff especially helpful. View of Athena temple from our room. Good breakfast with assigned private table. Walking distance to Ancient Greek ruins. (Wall of ancient Paestum across the street from the hotel, and entrance gate just around the corner.) We would choose this facility again without a doubt!

Nice hotel with character

Beautiful old Italian hotel, inside and out. Lots of flowers. Very nice buffet breakfast. All staff were delightful and helpful. Our best accomodations all week at a reasonable price. Highly recommended.
