"Very good location and service"

8.0

We liked the villa a lot; it looks great, the staff is very friendly and the pool was the best we had during our trip through Italy. Most of the times, pools are smaller than they appear - in this case, the hotel offers a spacious pool, in a nice garden and for a change no issues with towels or unavailable beach chairs. The reason for not giving it a 5 star rating is that the rooms are small, especially bathroom (and particularly the shower in which I could hardly move) which I think is difficult to accept at this price point.

"Fabulous holiday/ perfect setting"

10.0

We were with an organised travel tour, our room was perfect lovely view of the sea. Hotel staff were so kind and helpful, always happy to advise you on the local places to visit. The food was delicious and good choice on the menu. Our tour manager (Janet) was excellent and was always ready to help.

"Romantic hotel with great food."

10.0

Room was great with very nice view on sea and mountains. The personal care and service of all staff was amazing. Thanks again to all of them. The hotel makes you feel coming home after a day out to Pisa, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Carrara, etc.

"A Charming Oasis"

8.0

For nearly 20 miles from Viareggio north, there is a fine beach, but a steady nearly unbroken line of beach cabins and generic interchangeable hotels. Villa Maremonti is a thoughtful and successful restoration of an early 1900s mansion which evokes an elegant and more intimate pilgrimage to the shore. Considerable effort has been poured into the decoration of the hotel, but even more important was the assembly of a really gracious staff. With only 21 rooms, you truly feel like an important guest. There is an impeccable standard of cleanliness. The large windows in the dining area sparkle. The sea view rooms are technically so. You are looking at a busy boulevard and beach cabannas with the sea in the background. In late April, it is relatively quiet. I suspect in Summer, less so. I am really not much of a fan of hotel dining, except in France, but we had a very enjoyable and well crafted dinner here. The breakfast buffet is extensive, but candidly of medium quality. Fresh juice, eggs to order, etc are available upon request, and might make that meal more agreeable. I would be willing to pay for a breakfast with more premium items (breads, jams, superior pastries). Much is forgiven when one can sit outside or on their porch. For a night or two, it doesn't matter, but we would have preferred to have some English language television stations (BBC, CNN). Kudos for having secure wifi, something that many chain hotels ignore. Maintaining a hotel of this quality and character takes enormous work and caring. Avoiding shortcuts and the temptation of certain economy measures confirms a desire to really provide value and a unique experience for their guests. We would be delighted to return.

"Fabulous stay"

10.0

Booked with an organised a travel tour, and just our group at the hotel. Very pleasant family run hotel, with comfortable en suite rooms. Friendly, helpful staff making the stay welcoming and comfortable. We were half board, and the usual buffet breakfast, with the addition of delightful Italian pastries! The evening meals had a choice of three options, and found the food to be of a good standard, especially the fish dishes were excellent. Some people in our party were not prepared to try the local dishes, and did not like what was on offer. If you want steak and chips every night, stay at home! The hotel is in lovely grounds, and close to the sea. I would love to go back one day! Highly recommended.

"Middle of the road"

6.0

Not quite good enough for me Building solid enough and decor elegant...lots of artifacts/ paintings (hobby of the owner).Room spacious but with signs of needed repair. Food not up to scratch...limited breakfast choice, despite buffet style service......dinner very changeable,....virtually no vegetables, loads of pasta, and the same fish reappearing on consecutive nights, masquerading under a different menu name. The grounds were pleasant but the pool again showed signs of necessary repair....loose/ missing tiles round the edges etc....jacuzzi not operational. Location somewhat out on a limb....precious little within a mile's walk. Limited shopping about half a mile away. I am very puzzled that hardly anyone has left comment this summer/ autumn. Why? Who knows? As we visited as part of a package tour, I don't know if the room price is competitive....certainly there are fabulous places to visit in the wider locality.....Carrara marble quarries, Lucca, Cinque Terre, Portofino etc....all splendid. But if luxury is something you crave, look elsewhere.

"Excellent!!!"

10.0

Villa Maremonti is a very charming and nice hotel! The villa is beautiful, it has a typical Italian style and amazing ambiance. The location is perfect, next to the sea. The people in Maremonti were very kind, especially Agnese, who gave us a lot of amazing tips which restaurants, villages and beaches to visit, that really made our holiday great. We would highly recommend this hotel to others! And last, but not least, the breakfast is super! The selfmade Italian pies were delicious!

"Mixed feelings"

6.0

We spent a week here as part of a Travelsphere group. The room was fine, with a good view of the mountains and good facilities. However, there is no lift and climbing to the upper floor was exhausting in the very high temperatures we encountered. The breakfast was excellent, with a good range in the hot and cold buffets. There was a reasonable choice in the dinner menu, though the fish dishes were disappointing, in quantity and flavour. The pool area was much appreciated, with adequate provision of shade. There is a road between the hotel and the various beach restaurants. Frankly there is little to do in the evening apart from a stroll along this road. Again disappointing.

"Beautiful with good service"

10.0

We spent a week at this hotel as part of group on an escorted tour. The service on this family run hotel was very friendly and they could not do enough for us. The quality of the food was the best we have had on an escorted tour with half board. They went out of their way to accommodate my wife's food allergy and made adapted dishes with no fuss at all. The room we had had was beautiful with a lovely view over the garden. The whole atmosphere of the hotel was one of relaxation with excellent internal and outside areas with good furniture. Lovely pool. Definetly worth a stay.

"ALL THE CHARM DISSAPEAR WHEN YOU HAVE TO PAY THE FINAL INVOICE....NOT PROFESSIONAL AT THE END."

6.0

We spent our anniversary there and had a nice stay in this place; employers were very nice with us and we enjoyed the swimming pool and dinners at the terrace, but all the charm dissapears when we check the expenses in the final invoice and complain about some mistakes. In fact, we never signed the invoices as we trust in the correct way to act of the hotel , but one day we check the invoice of the lunch by chance and they charge the same salad with higher price, so from that moment we asked for the detail invoice of the expenses, which was taken in a bad way from them; also, we asked in advance for having breakfast somedays in the room with no extra cost and they agreed by email (written confirmation); however they charged 10 Euros for the orange juice as they say it was fresh (¿¿??), in spite of the fact that we asked to have the same breakfast that we used to take at the dinning room without any extra cost. Another example is that one day we had lunch later than the normal time and they put it in a bad way, in spite of the fact that we had lunch and dinner most of the days in the hotel, which is quite expensive. But, what I consider zero professionalism at all is the behaviour of what I guess is some kind of responsible (A woman with curly hair called Francesca): The day we left, she literally remained sat down in front of us texting with her cell at the sofa and did not say any word, neihter moved to stand up and say at least "Many thanks for your stay with us and hope to see you again very soon", taking into account that we paid around 3.000 Euros for a week there.....There are some details which makes the difference, and this one implies a total lack of professionalism. Too bad for them.
