Hotel Weitzer Graz

It was in a great location to see the sights. All within walking distance. Even the train station was walkable. I also highly recommend Der Steirer next door for your culinary option.

Loved Graz and this hotel is in walking distance from most of we did. FANTASTIC breakfast buffet. Clean rooms, comfy beds, courteous and accommodating staff. We were in a large group and they let us take over their lounge and order in pizza one night. Would certainly stay here again.

Hotel is in a good location for the old city and tourist areas, and also close to many restaurants and cafes. The room provided at check in was rather small, but the main issue was a strong smell of paint due to recent renovation. The front desk provided an upgrade to a different larger room due to this, however they did not offer an automatic upgrade per VIP access. Amenities in the rooms are lacking. There are no tea/coffee making facilities, and no iron/ironing board. However staff was friendly and service generally good. Overall sense is that the hotel could benefit from a general renovation to the rooms and amenities/facilities to complement its good location close to the old town area.

The room was very comfortable and gave a good view over the river into the historic city center. We enjoyed excellent breakfasts and also liked our afternoon cake and coffee in their cafe. The bartender made a particularly excellent " Hugo" spritz. There is a large drop-off space but no onsite parking. A garage is available a block away.

When I booked this hotel it was because of the pristine location adjacent to the river.I was shocked that 2 of the roads in front and beside the property as well as the walking bridge across the river were totally ripped us making walking impossible! Added to this was the fact that the annex that our room was located in was also under renovation with one of the elevators inoperable. Not impressive, would not have booked if I knew this was the case, no warnings received to inform us of the situation!

The Weitzer is in a great location for visiting for visiting the center Graz. Staff idk pleasant and rooms are satisfactory - do not waste your money on balcony rooms - they are small and the balcony tiny. Breakfast is excellent.Avoid rooms facing north due to the ongoing tram construction. All in all the Weitzer has a great location and is reasonably priced.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. The first impression we had of the room was when we open the door in the strong stench like sewer gas hit us in the face. After we turn the fan on in the room for several hours, the intensity diminished somewhat but the gases were always there. The room itself was three star at best with none of the amenities normally offered in a four or five star hotel. There were no bathrobes slippers, toiletries, complementary water, or coffee pot that one would normally find in a decent hotel. We considered checking out of the hotel and going to another hotel after the first night, but since we only had reservations for two nights, we decided to tough it out and stay for last night. The sewer gas smell could have been coming from the construction work outside the hotel which was another huge turn off to the experience.

There were positives and negatives to this hotel. The location is pretty good, on the other side of the river, a somewhat more quiet area. However, there is a very large construction project taking place just outside of the hotel so the traffic and the whole area around the hotel are adversely affected. We could smell sewer gasses in the area and think that some of that seeped into the rooms as well, since our room had a strong unpleasant odor to it, a mix of old and humid building and sewer gasses. To be fair, we did not request a new room, so don't know if there are rooms that don't experience this problem. The room had a beautiful French balcony with lots of beautiful flowers, which made the view quite nice. But you couldn't open the doors because the bees and the flies would come into the room instantly, so we couldn't really air out the room. Another positive was a very nice breakfast, a large amount of different foods, it was very rich and abundant. Kudos to the hotel for that. The bar was not open all the time, so it was a hit or miss situation. If you wanted a coffee or a drink during certain times of day, you had to go next door. I don't know why this hotel is rated as a 4-star hotel on Tripadvisor. It is definitely a 3-star. The room is a good size, but bare bones. Many of the 4-star hotel amenities are missing here: no coffee maker, no complimentary water, no bathrobe, slippers or toiletry kits, no ironing board. The bathroom had a magnifying makeup mirror, which was nice, and the hair drier. Also nice was a separate toilet. We didn't have much contact with the staff, but whenever we did talk to them, they were helpful and professional. In conclusion, I don't think I would stay here again mostly because of the smell in the room and the lacking amenities, but I can see that the hotel might be a good option for those looking to stay just outside the old town.
