Le Bellevue

The breakfast was simple but lovely and delivered to our room by the very nice gentleman owner (?) each morning. I've bed was good, better than most others that we stayed in around France. It was further from the Normandy than I would have preferred. It was very clean. We felt secure with the locked exterior doors at night.

Impulse visit with no research at all! Managed to lose the room key but hotel owner was OK about it. Pleasant hotel in a pleasant area of Caen.

For the price, the value is unbeatable. a stove top, refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker are in the room and there is plenty of free parking. owners are very nice but don't speak much English - it did not cause us a problem, though. there is a market right across the street but the hours are limited (about 9a-8p). Bed is comfortable but the mattress has a plastic cover. One night was quite hot out and the mattress cover made it even hotter. The room is plenty big enough, though. We found it to be easy access to the Normandy beaches with a car. Very few late dining options in the area (except Pizza Bus, which was great!), but we had the option to use the microwave and stove in the room, which worked out well for us. No elevator and the tub sides are high and tub is slippery - so could be a problem for older or mobility challenged guests. For the price, free parking, room amenities, etc. it worked out great for our needs.

Newly remodeled clean rooms only issue was shower drained slow

This is one of those cool little out of the way hotels, that no one seems to know about. Older building, but well maintained. Clean room, and the in-room kitchenette is a real plus. They bring breakfast up to your room! Parking is a little tight if you have a larger vehicle, and wifi was flaky, but glad we found it, and would definitely recommend.

- no english spoken (nor by the lady on friday during checkin- nor by the man from the reception on the following two days) - the price scribbled down on a piece of paper was not correct ; we had to pay 210 euro for two nights breakfast and taxes included. According to their website, the price should have been € 200,40. - room was small and very simply furnished, definitely not the "charm furnished studio" as advertised on their website for this price. - on the first day, there was no more warm water after one bath. The water stayed cold the rest of the day. We had to use the water boiler to make some warm water to brush our teeth - no breakfast room. Breakfast was very simple and served to our room. Not very comfortable. Conclusion: absolutely not worth the money. We feel scammed and will never visit this hotel again.

I took my wife away with our 3children for her 40th birthday ,our room was damp which u could smell as soon as they opened the door,the basin in the bathroom was cracked,the table cloth on the table was stained all over with large brown marks .I went to complain and on the way to reception a French man was so drunk he fell on top of me on the stairs,i explained this all to the assistant and he shrugged his shoulders and told me the manager was out and he could do nothing .upon hearing this i took my wife and children to find another hotel to stay in .we found another hotel after paying more travell money and also a higher rate at new hotel .we went back to pick up our bags and the hotel manager was there he did nothing no sorry no help nothing i told him we were not staying a momment longer as the hotel looked and felt like a doss house and we found else where .

We stayed in October and got what we paid for. Very budget and very old. The kitchenette was tiny with no oven except a microwave. It has a fridge and two hot plates so very simple cooking. When returning after a day out with the window shut the kitchenette really smelt. The room itself smelt of cigarettes. Tiny bathroom with no power in the shower. Positives: the bed was very comfy. Great location. Aldi right across the road, parking at rear and once the wifi worked, it worked well. Manager does not speak English but we managed.

well received and looked after. English spoken. car park was secure and on site. no problems. on our notes to revisit for stop over when needed in that area.
