We loved our stay!

Nice location, good gym and pools. For some reason my room had strange (bad) smell. I tried to get rid of it by keeping the balcony door open during the nights but still there remained some smell the whole visit (four nights). I tried to change the room, but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked.

Really lovely hotel, conveniently located for an easy walk into the centre of Funchal. Staff were all very lovely. My only negative point was that unknown to us, we arrived when the carnival was on, and had difficulty both finding and the accessing the hotel due to road closures. After a long day of travelling and trying to navigate the roads at night in a hire car, we went round in circles trying to reach our hotel. After trying to phone the hotel for advice, no one answered our call. Eventually we managed to find a blocked road, that said access only and got to it. Answering the phone or an email to explain how to get there on carnival night might have saved a lot of first night stress. Overall though, we had a lovely stay, and reception even rang down to the kitchen to ask if we could get a meal late at night on arrival day. We would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful location, excellent breakfast, friendly helpful staff, fantastic pool area, reasonably priced.

Having to cross a bridge to get to the room was not good; the app did not work for the whole week .

All a bit underlit in the room and hallways. Noise from floor above . No separate bin for plastic/ cardboard in the room . Great food in rooftop bar .

The hotel is very good overall. The 'space age' theme is a little strange - particularly the graphics in the lifts and the bedrooms are minimalist up to the point of ‘operating theatre chic’ - too basic for a 4* hotel. No enclosed wardrobes. The room lights are overcomplicated with one part of an unlabelled bedside double switch turning on the bedside reading light on - the other turning all the lights off! Not good if your partner is in the bathroom. The room we had wasn't classed as sea view but we did have a rather lovely sea view over an old church (room 520). The rooms have a kettle but no tea or coffee - a bit stingy at this price point. The breakfast was very good with a wide choice of cooked items and fresh fruits, yoghurts etc. All very clean and well-tended by the cooks. The breakfast room however is very dark and dingy when it's cloudy outside. The rooftop pool and the seaside pools are beautiful although the latter does have a mosquito problem at dusk.
