Terrace Mar

We stayed in this hotel from 23rd Dec 2024 to 6th Jan 2025 and are happy to recommend it. The staff are very nice, especially the young man on reception who told us about the market and the street party that only happens once a year ( on 23rd Dec) We went along to the party and had a fabulous time. The lady in the breakfast room was lovely too. She always greeted us with a smile and a "good morning" Breakfast was excellent, with something for everyone. Our room with balcony was on street level and there was lots of traffic but once we closed the double glazed patio doors we didnt hear anything and we both slept very well in the comfortable beds. The suite was spotless, as was the whole hotel. The rooftop swimming pool was great. We would be very happy to stay in Terrace Mar again if we return to Madeira.

My husband and I visited Madeira for the first time and stayed at the Terrace Mar Suites. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by a very pleasant young man receptionist. He gave us a lovely overview of the property and we were guided to our first floor suite. The suit had a front facing balcony, where the road was quite busy, but was very quiet at night. The breakfast room was large and offered an extensive range of choice. You are also able to order items on an menu (no charge). We found the location of the hotel perfect for getting around, as for anyone not visiting Madeira, it's hard to avoid a 'climb'. There was the added bonus of the roof top pool, jacuzzi and sunbathing area.

The hotel is in a great location, the apartment/room was perfect with a great view. Reception staff were always helpful and friendly. Cannot recommend the lady at breakfast each morning highly enough - she was the most friendly welcoming person, always a pleasure to say hello in the morning. The breakfast is vast lots of fresh fruit, meat and cheeses, cereals, pastries and hot food and also plenty additionally cooked to order if you require. The pool area is lovely and clean, located on the roof with a very relaxed vibe. About a 25 minute walk into the old town of Funchal, lots of great places to eat nearby the hotel. Only downside, it is next to a road. It is not excessively busy but you can expect some traffic noise but this did not disturb us in any way.

The lady in the breakfast room was excelent, very attentive and courteneous. Also very good breakfast.

The breakfast was quite varied and tasty. The rooftop pool has nice views and great for sunning and relaxing . Lots of choices for nearby walkable restaurants. Easy, close access for bus transit to Centro.

Lovely room in a good location. Only slight negative was the parking situation around the hotel, but spaces can be paid for at the hotel.

The property is well kept, pool area very nice, breakfast was great but the best part is all the staff so friendly and helpful really enjoyed our stay

Fabulous hotel! Staff extremely helpful and 24hr reception. Suite cleaned daily, towels and linen changed as requested (daily if required). Lovely breakfast, something to suit all from cereals, yoghurt, jams, honey etc, continental, bacon, eggs, beans, pastries, including warm pastel de nata! We had top floor suite with full wrap around terrace, amazing! (Few stairs to climb to access). Suite had everything we needed. Couldn't fault anything. It was spotless! Highly recommend this hotel. Perfect base to explore the beautiful island of Madeira. Thankyou to all the lovely staff at Terrace Mar.
