"Not a 4 Star hotel."

2.0

Stayed one week all inclusive . Very disappointed. No nighttime entertainment or daytime entertainment. Snacks were only hot dogs no sauces and crepes. Nothing else to eat in the day time. Food in restaurant was just okay. Lights didn't work outside our steps to our room. The room was very cold and damp. The bed wasn't great and the sheets were all pulled.. No atmosphere at all in the place. The staff were not friendly especially the receptionist he was very abrupt talking to customers. I can't understand how this is sold as a 4 star hotel.. Management need to employ more staff and train them to be polite and smile. The person working at the pool bar had to go between the bar and the crepe van which left people standing waiting to be served when there should have been more staff on. Only one barman in the upstairs bar was friendly. I would not holiday there again.

"I would not stay again unless they invest in changes"

6.0

We just got back from our Christmas break and stayed in one of the suites. The hotel grounds are lovely and well kept and that is a major plus but sadly lot of things I read in the reviews are true. The pools are freezing and our room had some serious mould (see the pics), the rooms are cleaned almost daily, clean towels and for deposit you can get beach towels. The reception area is very dated but do not mind that. It was the mould that I have issue with. Also some morning we would have a small pool of water under the window (not sure how that happened). The food and the drinks are also not a good quality and glad we first tried (as I read the reviews) and paid for breakfast. Family of four for breakfast was 64 £ and not tasty at all. The coffee is not great and the drinks neither but luckily Playa Blanca has incredible restaurants. When I wanted to upgrade I was told it is 72 Euros per person a day which I do not think is adequate of the quality sadly. There has been also lot of very different information from the staff. e.g on pricing of the food and where to pay so not very much in sync. Overall we had a great time in Playa Blanca and if THB does some serious changes it has potential.

"If you are going to stay here room only is the best way."

6.0

We are just leaving after a 7 day stay. The place is spotless and kept that way. That’s a massive plus. Rooms are fine yes a little dated but comfy. We were B&B and I am so pleased that’s all we paid for. The breakfast was not the best we lived on toast for 6 days. The rest of the breakfast didn’t look the best. The coffee machines were empty more than full. The “fresh “ orange was warm and not fresh at all. The pools are freezing and in the 7 days we didn’t see anyone cleaning them like other hotels we have stayed in. The staff are friendly and the supermarket is fab and not expensive either. The bar is like sitting in a class room no atmosphere at all. Would we be back I don’t think so. The food lets it down massively and like I said I would be really upset if we had paid for AI.

"Enjoyed my stay in this lovely, well run hotel."

10.0

I really liked this hotel. 8 nights solo trip for a well earned rest. Like many of the older hotels on the island, it's a bit shabby and the drains smell, but it's not selling itself as luxury and is priced in the budget range. The housekeeping in the rooms and grounds is outstanding which made the whole place feel cared for and raised the standard above other hotels in the age range. The pool and garden areas are gorgeous. 2 main pools, kept immaculately clean. It's laid out in a lovely village plaza-like feel with full grown trees and shrubs. Plenty of sunbeds with parasols with loads of choice within the lovely rambling plaza. My 2nd floor room had a separate bedroom and 2 balconies. Both twin beds are on the firm side, but that suited me so I had a great sleep. My only issue was on the first night, I realized I was across the Plaza from the disco. I hadn't expected it to be so noisy. Max in reception engaged with the issue and worked hard to find a room that would suit me better. In the end I liked my room so much I decided to watch tv with headphones until the entertainment finished - which wasn't too late. I did appreciate the effort to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The free wifi was good enough to stream movies, so even when I ran out of downloads I was good for stuff to watch on a tablet. I had breakfast included. The cooked breakfast was OK. Nice range of fresh yogurts, dried and fresh fruit, breads, pastries, meat and cheese. 10 minutes walk takes you to the first of 3 nice beaches. Another 10 minutes along the promenade to the marina. All staff were cheerful and friendly. I'll definitely return here for my annual solo break.

"Disappointing Stay, Not Worth 4 Stars!"

4.0

Overall Impression I give this hotel a rating of 2. The gardens are lovely, and the rooms look great from the OUTSIDE. But the inside of the rooms tell a completely different story. The rooms from my experience are: outdated, poorly maintained, and not polished as shown in the photos online. There is absolutely no soundproofing, and the gym equipment is extremely old. If you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful holiday, THB Royal is not the place to stay in my opinion. While the staff are friendly, the breakfast is decent, and the pools are well kept, my overall experience was far from peaceful, and I cannot recommend this hotel. This has been a frustrating and disappointing hotel experiences for me. Furthermore, the communication at reception is poor. If I could go back in time, I would never have stayed here. I also will not be staying at any THB hotels again. You can find my reasons below: I recently stayed at this hotel with my partner, and it was an absolute disappointment. To me there is nothing “royal” about it. I booked this trip specifically for REST. When making my reservation, I clearly requested a quiet room away from noise. However, I sadly received a room located directly next to ongoing construction. Had the hotel been upfront about the noise on the property, I would have chosen a different place to stay. Even at check-in, before making my payment, this could have easily been communicated, but it wasn’t. The room I was given, 751, seemed decent enough upon arrival. It had two spacious balconies, which was a nice touch. However, the safety of the main door is questionable, as part of the frame has cracks in it (see photo). On top of that, the constant loud drilling in that area gave me a headache within the first 24 hours of my stay (not exactly what someone expects on holiday). I went to reception on Saturday to ask whether the noise was temporary. The receptionist present informed me that construction is ongoing from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Monday through Saturday) and she told me to wait until Monday to see if the noise continued to be a disturbance to me. Monday arrived, and the noise was even worse. As someone who suffers from tinnitus, constant drilling is extremely uncomfortable for my ear. So, I went back to reception to request a quieter room. A gentleman named Max, who works at reception, said he would look into finding another room equivalent to what I paid for and in a quieter area. He later told my partner and me that he had secured another Junior Suite room in a quiet area, and it would be available on Tuesday. We explained that we had an early tour and could only switch rooms in the afternoon once we returned. He said, “No problem, we will hold the room for you.” We returned from the tour looking forward to moving into the room promised, only to be told by the lady receptionist that no rooms were available. I explained that her colleague had already arranged and held a room for us, but she said that she had no record of the arrangement. At this point, I was extremely frustrated. After reiterating my ear condition and the impact of the constant drilling, she checked again and eventually offered another room. This new room (1028) was further away from the construction noise, but it came with its own issues: 1. Strange markings on the walls, appearing to be bug stains, which had not been cleaned/removed. 2. Loud plumbing noises from neighboring rooms whenever toilets were flushed or showers used, sometimes accompanied by a sewage odor. 3. Very poor soundproofing, we could clearly hear voices and movements from other rooms. On December 4th, 2025, I was woken up at 3:17 AM and 4:47 AM. This is not the guests’ fault, but rather reflects inadequate room construction and insulation. 4. The bathroom had no window or vent, which could explain the reason for the mold buildup in certain areas of that bathroom. The rainforest shower head also had significant limescale buildup.

"Mouldy damp room avoid"

6.0

At first glance this hotel is ok for the price we paid. It's a 20 minute mostly flat walk down to Playa Dorada beach and the promenade of Playa Blanca and there is a Hiperdino supermarket 5 minutes walk away. The pools are ok and look clean enough and there is a food wagon poolside serving crepes for those staying all inclusive but I never saw anyone use it in the whole time we were here which was for 9 nights. Anyone not staying all inclusive has to pay €21 each for breakfast which for what's on offer we thought an absolute rip off. For anyone looking to hire a car during their stay there is lots of easy parking spaces right outside the hotel. We also found the beds and pillows to be very comfortable. Now for the negative points. The bathroom in our room had only one window which was at waist height right where you stand in the shower cubicle with a path directly outside that is very busy at most times with people walking to the pool/restaurant who can't help but see a full view of anyone using the shower. We found this ridiculous design fault really quite odd. The shower room desperately needs an extractor fan, as does the lounge area which was quite damp even with the air conditioning on as warm as the settings will allow. The dampness in the room has resulted in black mold on most of the walls and ceilings which creates an extremely dangerous and unhealthy environment for anyone especially for those with asthma or a lowered immune system like my wife who is receiving cancer treatment. If it had been left to me I would have demanded to be given another room but my wife didn't want to make a fuss at the time or have the confrontation with the staff. We've now been home for 2 days and both of us have nasty chest infections that we've never had before after visiting the Canaries. On our last day we were getting picked up by the coach at 12:30 and had in our contract that we had to vacate our room before 12 noon which we were happy about. At 9:45 we had the maids wanting to clean our room immediately and asking us why we were still there. We told them we had the room until 12 and because we didn't back down they went away but they were quite angry about it which we found very disappointing. We enjoyed our holiday but made a point of spending as little time at this hotel as we could and we obviously wouldn't recommend. Just glad that we paid for room only to be honest.

"Not 4star"

6.0

Could be so much better ! The main issue is the food , def not 4 star worthy and always lukewarm Drinks ok but the cocktails on AI are syrup concoctions with added alcohol , not a cocktail shaker in sight . Room huge with twin beds / lounge area , bathroom and balcony , free safe . Staff are all friendly and the Animation team member doing his utmost to get people joining in . WiFi hit n miss . No snack bar to be seen so All inclusive was the 3 mark n meals served in dining room . Crepe van was nice but a bit too o specific with what they offered , no variety Zen pool quiet for relaxing Would I return - no

"Extremely disappointed ☹️"

6.0

When we entered our accommodation my heart dropped it looked as though most of the furniture had been removed! The rooms are very tired and lacking in many respects. However everything was spotlessly clean and the cleaning staff did an amazing job. The pool was lovely with no shortage of sunbeds. The opening times given on arrival are a joke. The crêpe van was advertised as being open all day and it wasn't, we never saw a snack bar open - it was as though the hotel was winding down for winter. There were quite a few more things that all lead me to give this hotel (and I am being very generous) a 3* rating. The food was ok but lukewarm. We made the best of our week away but would definitely not return. There is a lot of work to do here.

"Great hotel for a late winter break."

10.0

We stayed at this hotel between 9th-16th November 2025. 2 Days before we left, we saw 3 reviews on here that were not brilliant, so we traveled with some trepidation. We arrived late at night, but the staff were friendly and helpful, and we found our room easily using the map. We had a junior suite (756), which was perfect, and If you want peace and quiet, ask for a room in the 'Zen' area. It had a big bedroom, nice bathroom, 2 balconies, and a decent lounge. The A/C was also efficient and effective. It was spotless, and had no issues with it at all. Have to say the staff in all areas and departments were excellent; friendly, helpful, and efficient, so that is a big plus. The complex has two pools; one near reception, which has a snack van and cafe bar, or the 'Zen' pool which is quieter. We spent most of our time there, but our only issue was the number of cleaning trolleys that went through this area every hour. We once counted and it averaged at between 12-16/hour. Whilst it might not be a big thing, when you're relaxing and/or sleeping, it can wake you up. Dining is like many hotels in the Canaries - hit and miss. My wife is a vegetarian, but most nights there wasn't a great choice on offer other than salad, pizza, chips, or on occasion, a token veggie dish. We never had a theme night, or at least not one that was advertised as one. Breakfast was the same every day, but guess you can't alter it that much. Finally, as in most similar hotels, not just this one, the food was normally luke warm/cold at best, unless you got it straight off the griddle. But there was a microwave as well, so usually heated mine up in that - although shouldn't have to do that every time. There is a bar on site, but it is not what I would call 'friendly', or having a good atmosphere. This is mainly because it has white walls, no pictures, plastic chairs and tables, and is not comfortable. Be nice if they made it more welcoming; nice comfy seating, pictures, lamps instead of LED lighting etc. Might encourage people to stay longer. We had one drink up there the entire stay, and lasted 15 minutes. Other nights we went into town. Overall, a really good stay apart from what I've mentioned, and would certainly return again, although maybe not in high summer as not sure it would be the same, as apparently it caters for the French more during this time, although that doesn't bother me.
