Hotel Cannobio

Hotel Cannobio is delightful. It is a modest boutique hotel facing Lake Maggiore. You definitely want a lake view room, preferably a suite which has a sitting area. Rooms 102 and 103 are bright and charming, and have a small balcony. (Room 101, the only two bedroom/two bath suite, is kind of chopped up and gloomy. For a family, try to split your party into two rooms rather than choosing this option.) The breakfast buffet was scrumptious and you can choose to sit inside or out. Staff are kind and helpful. Most spoke English pretty well, which is more than I can say for my Italian. It has some quirks, like room 103 has a large bathtub but no shower.

The hotel is very well located in the center of town, on the lake promenade. Lake view rooms worth the price difference. Excellent breakfast and attentive staff. Nice restaurant on the lake. Easy access to cafes and restaurants nearby.

We loved everything about our stay in Hotel Cannobio and Cannobio town. It was low season in the area so the town was quiet. We walked around and ate most meals sitting and watching the lake on the promenade. Locano and Ascona are near by. Nice places to visit. We walked the trail to el Orrido de Santa Anna. A nice walk. We even visited the Valle Cannobina. Really old, little towns tucked away in the mountains. Hotel has spaces to park in a private parking garage near the hotel.

Having read the reviews and booked a lake view “Superior” room were disappointed when we were checked into an attic 4th floor room where the lake could only be seen by leaning out of the attic windows. The views were amazing but...... The hotel has about the best location in Cannobio, right on the lakeside. The staff were very friendly and helpful, room tidy and clean and the facilities excellent. The breakfast was expensive at 20 Euros so we ate at one of the many cafes. Lots of excellent restaurants close by in the town. Overall would recommend the hotel but ensure that your lake view room is not on the 4 th flloor.

Fantastic!

Although our 4 day stay we were treated as honoured guests. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff, although professional,were kind and friendly. The hotel had two outdoor dining options, one being more formal and expensive the other had more of a brasserie feel to it. The breakfast was fabulous with everything you could possibly want, even sparkling wine.
