Quinta de Sao Thiago

What a magical place! It’s like you stepped back in time when you arrive at this Quinta, surrounded by lush gardens. The woman who owns it grew up there and has so many fascinating stories to share about the house. Although it’s down a narrow gravel road, it’s easily accessible by car, Uber, and even Uber eats if you decide to order in. On the day we were without a car, were able to walk to the main road where there is a bus service to a lot of the sites in Sintra—though it was hard to leave the enchanting property. And my 8 year old son wanted me to mention that he found a lizard in the bathroom and had a lot of fun and the lizard was super cute.

La Quinta de Sao Thiago es un remanso de tranquilidad en la Sierra de Sintra, un edificio y jardines preciosos. También es un lujo contar con la amabilidad y la charla de Magdalena, que nos enseñó el orgulloso legado familiar. Nos dió buenas recomendaciones para cenar en restaurantes, y otro día, al llegar, estaba con familiares y niños en una celebración familiar, y compartieron con nosotros una tarta deliciosa. Son detalles que no se olvidan. Una anfitriona perfecta.

El acceso a la Quinta es un poco complicado, con el camino bastante deteriorado.

Teresa greeted us and she was amazing. We had a tour of the property and saw all of the highlights. She was so nice. We got lost finding the home but Teresa was available by phone to “talk us in”. We made it. Great breakfast, very clean facility, crisp and clean linens. Very comfortable room. We loved every minute except the crazy rain storm. We were able to enjoy the grounds on the second afternoon. The pool area and gardens are very nice. Take a walk around. Check it out Our GPS gave us issues. Just go to Monserrate and turn at the totem pole with the eagle at the top. The entry road is challenging but a great adventure and worth it.

Thank you Teresa and the wonderful staff at Quinta de Sao Thiago for the best experience of hospitality we have experienced in thirty years of travelling. Everything exceeded our expectations - the warm welcome, exquisite rooms and views, impeccable housekeeping, delicious and bountiful breakfast, and spectacular gardens and library. The family history and collections of beautiful objects and furnishings, along with the wonderful conversation with Teresa by the fire are what made this place truly stand out. Thank you for a memorable stay. We shall dream about returning and will tell our friends this is an experience not to be missed!

Pequeno Almoço muito bom. Localização espetacular, pela envolvência e beleza natural da casa e dos seus jardins, bem como pela tranquilidade que nos é proporcionada face à sua localização. A história da casa e da quinta levaram-nos ao passado. Valeu a pena.
