Hotel Lehmeier

Great family run hotel in the center of Neumarkt. Comfortable and spacious rooms. Great breakfast, served in a dining room with feature stone arches. Indoor parking is available but only for a few cars. Ample parking space next to the city center. Very good quality/price ratio.

During my last stay in this Hotel I was really confused and disappointed. When I was leaving this hotel at 6 o'clock in the morning, the old lady at reception was nearly shouting at me, because she was too busy cooking breakfast. "You should check out in the evening", she shouted to me. As she said it is unacceptable to leave so early! This was really unusual for me, taking into consideration that I travel quite often all over the world. Normally in such situation I should have called a Manager, but I was in a hurry going to the airport. Travel to the middle of nowhere give new experience:(

Hmm. . . I'm not too sure how to respond to the last review, except to note that the people who work at reception are probably not the same people who work in the restaurant. My experience with the staff was good; they were courteous and had helpful suggestions about the town. This hotel is set rignt in the middle of the old town, but unlike some city centers in Germany this one is easily accessible by car. The hotel is set on a street with many small shops, so parking during the day is often full. The hotel has a few spaces of their own, but they are often occupied. After 6 PM, however, parking spaces on the street free up. There is a large parkade about one block away, with reasonable rates, so that is where I ended up parking during the day. The room was well laid out and very clean, with a modern bathroom (and more than a glass panel wall, in the case of this room). The breakfast, as usual in Germany, was excellent and very extensive. One note: according to the fire diagram, the single rooms (there aren't many) are very small. If you are travellling on your own and want more than a closet to sleep in, I'd suggest booking a double room with single occupancy. According to the diagram, the double rooms vary in size from more than adequate up to spacious. My room was large. One surprise was the town itself, which is very attractive. (I only stopped here because it was partway between Linz and Bamberg). The restored part of the old town is quite large, with an interesting town hall and an attractive church right beside it. Next to the church is the tourist information office. It had some good information and a helpful staffperson on duty. I would stay here again.

Overall I had a good stay at the Lehmeier. The only complaint I really have is that the television cable they have doesn't have many English channels. Small thing...so I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

My husband and I stopped during the Altstadtfest for eiskaffee and kuchen. These people realized we were Americans from our conversation and did not want to serve us at all. They argued between themselves about serving us and sent us the young waiter to talk care of us about 30 minutes later. Our German is not great but we can order food with no problem and he understood us perfectly, no trouble but then we asked for the check and they didn't want to deal with us again. Twenty five minutes later when they brought the check (tipping in Germany you just round up the check) she went ahead and did it without us telling her, this is very rude. I have traveled around Germany many times as our son lives there and have never been treated like this.

I didn´t appreciate the glass (see through) wall between the bedroom and bathroom. When travelling with kids a quiet shower (without an audience!) is about the only "me-time" I get ; ) Other than this problem this hotel has everything to recommend it. Beautiful and large family room, excellent breakfast, friendly service and reasonable price. The town itself is lovely. If it weren´t for the see-through wall I would make this hotel my regular stop-off on trips to Austria and the south.

Great staff, great accommodations and great food add up to a wonderful, but short visit. Our only issue was finding the hotel based on GPS directions. They led us down a narrow back street to the garage area which only had a small sign. If we had approached from the front there would have been no problem. The view was not so charming from our room on the back of the hotel, but we did not stay in the room except for sleeping. That is the only reason we did not rate if 5 all the way down. This far exceeded our expectations for this type of hotel.

Great people, definite advantage of a family owned and run hotel. Great restaurant en very personal and good service. The room was refurbished, very new, great bathroom. Only things missing were the clock radio and a minibar. Everything else was there and very new. Great bed and spacious room.

A lovely stay at this small hotel, friendly staff, comfortable beds, good strong shower and nice breakfast. Very good overall.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Lehmeier. It's a nice and cozy hotel in the heart of Neumarkt and close to all the important sights and many restaurants. The only thing that could be improved is the bathroom door (a sliding door) which could not be entirely closed.
