netter Empfang, Zimmer völlig ok (wir waren nur eine nacht dort). die lage ist recht gut um die ruinen zu erreichen und das restaurant "todisco" ist gleich nebenan und sehr zu empfehlen! In a very convenient location, close to shops and cafe. We enjoyed our stay @ Albergo Place, beside visiting Pompeii's site, it is alos fairly close tot he amalfi Coast.
Good room, beds, bathroom, protected from street noise, near train station, and near ruins and inexpensive. Top rating from me.
Albergo Pace was close to the main streets, yet because it was in a courtyard setting, it lived up to its name of peaceful. It was nice to have grass and a garden setting after seeing so much cement in the cities. The staff was very helpful with giving directions on how to get around town and also in reserving an on-street parking spot for us before we arrived. (No charge for parking was a plus!) We traveled with our daughter, and she enjoyed her own space in the living room area of our unit. The breakfast was standard fare for an Italian B & B, but very adequate and offered in a nice breakfast room. We also enjoyed a short session on the Internet, offered in the breakfast room. Close by, an ATM was just down the block, a bakery with delicious breads was on the same street, and we ate at the nearby restaurant recommended by the Pace staff where we enjoyed pizza, pasta, and the atmosphere. As advertised, it was about a 10 minute walk to the east entrance to ancient Pompei from the Pace. Our only disappointment was that the floor of the room had many ants. And because we were driving, we had to figure out how to get around on the one-way streets to get to the Pace address.
Albergo Pace is basic but was clean and represented good value for money in what I was looking for in a one night stay. It is easy walking distance to Pompei and the staff were friendly and helpful.
I stayed at Albergo Pace for three nights and it was definitely more than I expected for a one-star hotel. The room was small (as is typical of single rooms in Italian budget hotels) but clean and brightly painted, with a modern bathroom and a writing desk. The wireless service was spotty but workable, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was the typical bread, jam, yogurt, and coffee or tea served in a nice little basement room. The terrace was nice for reading, eating a snack, or admiring one of the ubiquitous summer fireworks shows in the area. The hotel is located near the basilica and the main square of the city, so cafes and restaurants are plentiful; it is beautiful at night and the square is packed with locals. The area seemed safe, which is important to me as a solo female traveler. It is a 20- to 30-minute walk past numerous souvenir stands to the main entrance of the ruins of Pompeii, but there is a side entrance to the site that is much closer and much less busy. The hotel is also convenient to the state railway station. Overall, the Albergo Pace was a great value and I would definitely stay there again.
This tiny hotel, tucked away behind shops and restaurants, is very handy for the railway stations of both the Circumvesuviana and the Ferrovia lines. For travellers visiting Pompeii under their own steam, this is a big advantage. It is not far from the nearest entrance to the Pompeii Excavations either. There is a real family feel because the hotel has only 7 rooms, and you will see the same people on reception when you come in and out. The receptionist recommended and excellent pizza restaurant about 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and the pizza was truly delicious - cooked in a real pizza oven - and very cheap. The actual hotel was just as it looks in the photographs on the hotel website (not always the case....). We would go back again if we are ever in Pompeii. We got a good deal on the price of the room by booking through Expedia too, though we had to remind the receptionist, who wanted to charge the rate advertised in the room at first. She quickly changed her tune when I showed her my Expedia paperwork.
