Courtyard by Marriott Shanghai Fengxian

This hotel exceeds my expectation. Service is excellent, room is big and clean, rate is low, food is delicious and people are great. Lounge is big and not crowded. Director of room, Ryan He, was very hospitable. He upgraded me to a one bed room suite on this property, and he contacted his colleague to upgrade me on the Renaissance hotel that I moved to during weekend. Ian Lee (food and beverage manager) is also exceptional. He takes care of guests to great detail: in the morning he prepares a cup of hot tea for me before I head out to work. Will definitely stay here again in the future.

I stayed at this property a few times many years ago before it was bought by Marriott and what a difference the Marriott brand makes. The rooms have been redone and are quite nice and that includes the usual comfortable bed and pillows you'd expect from Marriott. I had a room on the inner courtyard side and it was very quiet the entire time. The breakfast is also typical of the Marriotts in the Shanghai area and has plenty of good American and local options. They actually enforce the no smoking policy and have cleaned up the common areas to make it much nicer. The internet speed was as good as I've ever had in Shanghai, which surprised me. I could go about my usual business over VPN without much lag time or getting booted off. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but the room service options were decent. One of the best things about this hotel is its proximity to the commercial and industrial areas of south Shanghai. If your business is in this district, it eliminates the need for the long, tedious, congested commutes from any of the city center Marriotts. It's a very good value for the price too. Disneyland is about a 45 minute cab ride each way if you're planning a visit there. If you don't like the local cuisine, there is a McDonald's, KFC, and Pizza Hut all within a five minute walk. There is a swimming pool, so-so gym (bare minimum equipment), ping pong tables, and a billiards/snooker room for exercise. Overall, it's a very nice property (and still improving) and I suspect very convenient for many business travelers. I will definitely be returning to this hotel for future trips.

As I sit in the bar after dinner I could not be more impressed with the way I have been looked after by the team at this hotel. From the warm smiles at breakfast, the welcome when I get back from work to the easy chat with the staff at dinner , I cannot think of a hotel where I have felt so comfortable. My room is lovely and spotlessly cleaned every day. All areas of the hotel kept immaculate. Well done to everyone at the Marriott for striking the perfect balance of professionalism and informality to make your guests stay so pleasurable.

Nicely located at the center of Fengxian town (remoted from downtown Shanghai) with convenient shopping and breakfast (e.g. McDonald) choice around. Hotel breakfast has only limited selection of dishes (medium cost/performance ratio), but the view (from outer area at "glass house") is good. Recommended for biz travelers to Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park or Jinshan (20~30 minutes by car). Do confirm the entrance permit arrangement for the SHCIP restricted areas with your local counterpart in advance. :)

I came to town to visit my mom. The hotel is certainly up to international standard. Had breakfast there and received excellent services from the staff. Linda was so helpful and warm, showed me around the food island and even hand prepared her favorite dish which was so yummy good.F&B manager Ian Lee was awesome, he gently inquired about the service and asked for opinion. As a hotel executive when I worked in Shanghai, I am comfortable to say this hotel is under excellent management. Keep up the good doing! Steve Kan Seattle, USA

This hotel recently joined the Marriott, certainly the better choice in Fengxian Shanghai. Facilities are kind of old fashion though... Room is nice and comfortable. Defiantly would recommend to my friends!!

Great hotel if you're in a suite - included is the access to the 30th floor that in addition to breakfast gives you snacks, drinks, wifi and a great space to just relax. Breakfast will cater to all tastes.... The staff are always willing to help (big thank you to Mr Maas at the Concierge desk) and the cleanliness of the rooms is top notch. My only criticism is that unless you have a swimming cap, you won't be using the only indoor pool..... Would has been handy to know this before travelling from Aust as have plenty at home but don't carry them as a habit... Great location - close to public transport, shops and restaurants... If in the area, worth a look..

Stayed here a few time over the past few years. Their lounge food and drinks were pretty much exquisite. Basically a great Buffett restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. A bit of a walk from the subway, maybe two blocks, but worth the trek.

This was the best hotel l stayed in l will be coming back soon. The bed loved it the room loved it the room was nice and clean loved it everybody was so helpful the food we ordered was just before closing l ordered a late snack it was so delicious.
