Spacious accommodation, extremely tastefully and charmingly furnished. Beautiful surroundings and nature.

We stayed three nights and used the place as a base to explore the town of Montepulciano and the nearby Val d'Orcia; it was a really good choice for that. The host(ess) is great and attentive, the location is good, and the apartment is spacious and quiet, with a big, comfortable bed. The place is on a little dirt road half a mile out of town. I booked it thinking we'd walk into town, but it's a serious workout climbing the hill to get up there so we ended up driving to one of the lots just outside the walls. On the plus side, staying in town when you have a car seems like it would be difficult; we saw tourists struggling to haul their suitcases uphill over cobblestones on streets where you can't take a car, and by staying at Fontecastello we avoided all of that. Other than making tea and reheating a pizza we didn't cook anything, but the kitchen seemed to be equipped well enough to make simple meals. We paid for the breakfast, and there was enough for us that we usually sent about a third of it back untouched.

The lights aren't great if you want to sit and read a book...wattage is too low. Given that the guests pay for electricity, it seems like there's no downside to having bright bulbs in the lamps.

The friendly staff and the amazing views

Il posto è veramente molto bello, si trova in una posizione ottima e la proprietaria è stata molto gentile. Ci siamo trovati davvero bene, ci è stato dato un appartamento più luminoso rispetto a quello prenotato e la struttura aveva tutto il necessario per il nostro soggiorno. Super consigliato, speriamo di tornarci durante il periodo estivo per godere anche della piscina e del posto con un clima più caldo!

La colazione era ricca e curata, la posizione comoda ma riservata e tranquilla. Struttura e servizio hanno entrambe grande cura dei dettagli
