"Very good value"

8.0

A typical Italian hotel of about the 1970's. Clean, convenient, and comfortable enough if you are willing to deal with the shower situation (tub with hand shower only) and the famous matrimonial bed (2 twins made up together). It was quite inexpensive. The decor is very plain and basic. The breakfast is quite acceptable. Our room had a balcony with a view of the countryside - very nice! The walk into town is fine and only takes about 10 minutes. Convenient parking is free and right behind the hotel. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. They do not speak much English, but we didn't find it a problem (our Italian is minimal).

"Great Value"

8.0

No complaints about this Hotel. Clean comfortable room, good friendly service. It is about 10 - 15 minute walk up to the city gate. Breakfast was minimal, but same as most in Italy. Not the most romantic of hotels if that is what you are after (in which case look for one of the more expensive ones inside the city walls), but I would stay here again as it is one of the cheapest and is good value.

"Comfortable hotel with a lovely view of the plains. A short walk outside city walls."

8.0

As we were doing a Piero della Francesca roundtrip to Urbino, Florence, Arezzo, Rimini, and Sansepolcro, the main cities for his art in Italy around his birthplace Sansepolcro, it fit to live in a hotel with his name. Friendly reception staff, comfortable rooms with a lovely small balcony to sit and read and watch the sun go down over the plains. Take care to book a room on the view side.

"Good location outside City, Free Wi-fi, Breakfast fair, Cold lobby"

6.0

The hotel was less expensive than any hotel we searched for inside Urbino's historical old town's city walls. It's located about 1 km from the city center a short bus ride on Bus #3 - cost 1 Euro. The bus stop is in front of the hotel. The room we were assigned #48, a double did not have a shower just a bath tub. It was a quiet room in the back on the 3rd floor - okay for 1 night for us. The breakfast was okay just cake, coffee and cereal - not great for American's. The lobby and breakfast area - no heat. It was cold. Bathroom just equipped with soap & shampoo - that's it. No small wash cloth to bath, no hair conditioner. Reception night clerk speaks very good English - he's very helpful and courteous - - a college student lhoping to be accepted to study at Rutgers University, NJ, USA. Free parking on the side of the hotel and in the back by the school.

"Great value, can't ask for much more"

8.0

I will preface this review by disclosing that I am quite familiar with Urbino, having studied two separate summers on "campus"; so, I did know my way around, though I could see how it would be frustrating to arrive at this hotel if you don't. Despite the fact that this hotel is slightly outside city walls and requires either walking up at least one lengthy hill (two if you're going to take via Mazzini and then via Raffaelo from Borgo Mercatale), and preferably a taxi or 1.50Euro ride on the n.3 pullman for the initial ride there with your luggage, it is actually - as others have said - a mere 15 minute walk from the city center. The rooms are clean, relatively spacious, with a small tv and plenty of drawer/armoir space. The bathroom I had was immaculate and looked like it was scrubbed down every day. They don't have air conditioning in the rooms, but they do in the lobby. The included breakfast is the simple water/milk/coffee/juice and croissants/bread/ham/cheese/cereal one you'll find at many Italian hotels. The staff is quite friendly and helpful, and will be more than happy to assist you with directions towards the city center or anything else in the vicinity. Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. I paid 30Euro/night for this hotel, even taking into account the weekend (Thursday - Tuesday) in a more touristy month (July), and including breakfast. Even though Urbino is a relatively cheap city, if you're willing to walk a bit (which you're going to do anywhere in Italy - live a little!), and don't mind staying slightly outside the city's walls, this hotel is one of the best values available.

"Great value for money!!"

8.0

I was really impressed with this hotel, I paid €30 per night including breakfast and got a real 3* hotel (some 3* hotels in Italy are actually more like 1*). The location is great, it's just outside the old town walls - a very a scenic 10 minute stroll (it is not uphill as described in the comment below). If you have a big suitcase, there is also a bus which leaves from the central square and bus station and drops you right in front of the hotel. But as I say it's very doable on foot. I had a double bed, en-suite, flat screen tv and terrace, the room was also very spacious. Not bad at all for the price!! The breakfast was the only thing that was very shabby. I'd recommend starting the day with breakfast in a characteristic bar in the old town centre. Enjoy Urbino, it's magical!!!

"simple honest hotel"

6.0

A simple accomodation just 15 minutes walk to the city centre. Free parking possibilities at the hospital in front of the hotel building. We got a nice large room with balcony overlooking the hills. Clean hotel with good reception. We had a problem with our Tv set in the room and the receptionist arranged immediately for repairing it. Bus stop outside the hotel. Poor free breakfast. No restaurant.

"Good budget hotel"

8.0

We enjoyed our stay at Piero Francesco hotel. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable and the staff helpful. The location was in easy walking distance from Urbino , the only downside was the passing traffic noise which couldn't be avoided because there was no air conditioning so we had to leave the windows open. However the rates were very reasonable and Urbino is a lovely place to visit.

"The name is not enough."

6.0

The name of a great artist is not enough to make this hotel a great hotel. Our room was spacious enough but there was no air conditioner, the room is heated by a radiator that we could not control, so we could warm up with only a blanket. The hair dryer did not work, as well as the bathroom lights on the console. The breakfast was missing some key ingredients: there were only a few sweets, no ham, no cheese, no salty food. In addition, coffee and other hot drinks were served by an automatic dispenser. Finally, when we returned to our room after breakfast we found the cleaning lady who was already rearranging the room and had already changed the towels, even if we had not yet left and we still had all our things inside the room: this is not is professional in our opinion. For what regards the location, the hotel is about a kilometer from the city walls, around which there is paid parking and free parking. However, you can leave your car near the hotel and get to the city by bus, the stop is right outside the hotel. Let's say the accommodation was not so bad but other hotels, for the same price, gave us greater satisfaction.
