Apart-Hotel Plaza Colonial

good position, but no service, cleaning ugly to be desired.

Let me make it clear I LOVE THIS HOTEL!!!!! OH MY GOSH God really does work in mysterious ways. The senior spansh class of my high school went on a trip to the Domncan Republc in an attempt to prepare us for CXC orals that is in April of this year (everybody who sees this please say a prayer for my class that we all pass our spanish exam :) ♥ ). After that awful experience at Dona Elvira which by the way was the scamming hotel we had originally selected as our accommodation but encountered huge problems with we were lucky to find the lovely Plaza Colonial. Pointing out that it has great security and a very honest staff this hotel would make anyone want to come back to visit the DR again and again. To you food lovers the hotel provides you with Breakfast and let me tell you it was ohh too yummy im sure i put on a pound or two because of how much i ate and for you all that just love to take a dip in some water Plaza Colonial has a swimming pool that saw my friends and myself pretty much every night. I can go on and on about how great this hotel is but long story short its your ideal home away from home and I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GOOD PLACE TO STAY WHILE VISITING THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC :)

Though this hotel was not one of our first choice it turned out to be something somewhat amazing, which made us wonder why it wasn't on our list. I totally disagree with previous negative reviews pertaining to plaza colonial as the staff and manager are very welcoming. The area is very secure and provided us with reassurance. At 3:00 in the morning after the ill treatment which we receive from hotel "Dona Elvira" Plaza Colonial opened their door to us and gave us a a very spacious well equipped room as opposed to what Dona Elvira was trying to do ; which was to fit 16 girls in two rooms at Plaza each girl could sleep quite well. Though we were only there for 3 nights it was nice. I recommend this to anyone wishing to enjoy themselves

This wasn't our first choice but this hotel were our sent angel because at 3 am as we were looking for somewhere to stay this hotel welcomed us with open arms. A group of 24 persons and each room there was no crowd we were quite comfortable. It was a great hotel an I recommend anyone to go there! Just don't get room 269 but all and all they were our sent angel for those 4 days and 3 nights when Dona Elvira hotel had forsaken us! I will be visiting again sometime and will be staying there(Y)!!! 4 stars:D

This hotel happened to be an alternative choice but overall everything was great here. My Spanish Class and I had a great time here. It is a very independent hotel. Nothing to be scared of .. We were only staying there for 2 days so what ever they had was enough for us. The reception manager actually was very kind to us and he would try his level best to try to make us feel comfortable although there was few things that were uncontrollable by him. The breakfast was good too. I recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying for a few days.

Apparently, many persons have had a bad experience with this hotel but I wish to say that this is in fact a great place to vacation. To begin with, the staff is professional, excellent, friendly and very understanding. The rooms are very spacious, welcoming and security of the premises is in tact. We had a contingent of 24 persons from the Turks and Caicos Islands visiting Dominican Republic on an educational tour. Plaza Colonial was not our first choice of hotel but we ended up spending our 3 day rendevouz with them because our previously booked hotel- Dona Elvira- had cheated us. Luckily, at 3am in the morning Plaza Colonial welcomed us with open hearts and did not even demand payment of the rooms that day. The students enjoyed this place to the fullest. I must comment on the fine hospitality of the staff and quick response to resolve any issue we had. If I ever go back to the DR I will definitely stay at this hotel. It is cheaper than many other places and equally matched. Thanks Carlos, Felipe and the others who we met there. You are the best!!!!! We can't stop talking about you and have recommended your place to all in the Turks and Caicos Islands desirous of visiting your country.

We had a horrible experience !! The place is dirty: 1st. They didn't have our room. 2nd. Everything is way too old. Huge TV. CRAPPY cable box. NO REMOTE CONTROL. 3rd. Beds, sheets, furniture, towels CRAPPY and I'm been generous. The fan in the living room was making a horrible noise n we couldn't hear the tv. 4th. Everyday we had to call at the recepcion because we didn't have WATER!!!! The bathroom had holes and the mirrors if you dare to call them mirrors were so dirty and foggy that the only good thing about it is that i couldnt see how big my belly is.

My girlfriend desire to move with me to DR and i was very very excited for that so i booked in this hotel for 2 nights in suite which it was not even a good room i dont wanna see how is the standar. first at all when i checked in they couldnt find my reservation, i booked 2 rooms and as they didnt have availability i had to pay for a ´´better´´ suite with 2 bedrooms, i said OK because i was over time so when i prepare everything in the room and my girlfriend come everything was good but when we were sleeping the AC of the other room of her friend was not working property and they said will fix which nerver was done. the next day in the morning there was not cold water at all just hot hot hot water tha we couldnt event do anything. we waited like 3 hours for this to get addressed. in the check in form i put 2 night they called me the day after the 1 night asking a what time we gonna check out. that was so frustrating for me. the service is awfull .. i put flowers on the floor and 2 days after still there they didnt clean the room.. the front desk people dont know anything about service or how to speak with customers.... check out i explained everthing to the recepcionist and ask to speak with the manager to do something and they said there was not manager available... and i asked who is the person in charge of the hotel.. she was in charge the recepcionist with this bad acttitud ... i will NEVER in my life will come back and i hope if you think to have a good time and enjoy in a hotel dont make this hotel your choise....

I never had such a bad experince in my country... first night the room was nasty and bed was horrible dirty.. after calling and calling they change me to another room. that room was better but was missing one window it took 3 days before they change it, I couldn't do my things because of the window...breakfast was nasty...there was a group of baseball players from Puerto Rico that lost a lot of things plus were charged twice. They took all my money and jewelry FROM THE SAVE DEPOSIT BOX one day before I was supose to leave,, when i was shopping ... when I found out they treat me bad... then I went to the polis they all disappear ,not even the polis could get in toch with them. when I said that i would not leave the property untill the owner answer me... then she talk to me on the phone telling me to leave her property or she's going to charge me againg and that the receptionist is her nephew so be carefull (He disappear that same night and never come back or answer his cell). I had to stay more days at another hotel so I could start an official case against them....So I'm still fighting my case it's difficult because I'm not dere and they never show. So you make a better choice pls. thank you.

I was expecting to stay for 3 weeks I stayed only for 3 nigths. There was no hot water on my room. The kitchen did not work (no gas) , They were very reluctant to change me to another room,.. When they changed me to another room there was hot water yes, BUT NO KITCHEN!!! Finally they told me that they did not have a room with kitchen and hot water!!!!! The receptionist was not very friendly (nothing to do with other people I know from Dom. Rep.). I would not recommend this hotel at all!!!!!
