Glynhill Hotel

Room 142 is small. It was very cramped with two twin beds, a table, armchair and desk chair. I had to move the table and chair to get into the hanging closet, then I had to move than all back again to get seated at the desk to do some work. A room this size should only have one bed, a single or perhaps a double. Fortunately, I was traveling alone on this occasion, but if my wife had been with me we would have been very cramped in that small room. Having said all that.... the breakfast was outstanding and definitely worth the extra cost.

The team used to be friendly and welcoming. Now your lucky ( or unlucky depending on what person) if they glance up from the PC screen. Children are tolerated rather than welcomed. There are strange rules surrounding changing areas. In fact there are many rules, printed signs everywhere.! Time might be better spent on mopping up and cleaning. My young child and 70 year old mother who attend most Sundays were confronted by the new manager and told they were not permitted to play with a small pool ball. My mum asked if it was bothering anyone as there was only 4 people in the pool and other children were playing with noodles to be told if she didn't comply her membership would be terminated!!! Family friendly, family run hotel no more!

Booked an afternoon tea for 2 adults and a child. I was particularly pleased and excited to take my little one for her first afternoon tea and have a lovely experience with her and my grandmother but it wasn't to be. On arrival we were early and the member of staff on reception abruptly told me it wasn't open yet (no issue with this, my grandmother has mobility issues so I prefer to allow plenty of time)- I got the distinct impression we were an inconvenience. Not welcoming at all. I asked if we could take a seat in the small reception room and he barely grunted an answer. When the restaurant opened at 12 we went through and were seated by the server (he was the only positive of our visit quite frankly!). He brought out the afternoon tea after a cold drinks order and I was immediately confused. All the items were freezing cold as if pre prepared and kept in the fridge at an earlier date- there seemed to be a mix of kids and more adult items. One of some and 2 of others. Not enough to make up tea for 2 adults and 1 child certainly. The plates themselves were grubby and smeared glass and nothing seemed particularly fresh. I queried the amount of food and was told they had noted the booking as 1 adult and 1 child (the person on the phone repeated it back to me as 3 people so not sure how that happened). We were offered some more sandwiches, which was decent of the staff member and we accepted but prior to him bringing them out I bit into an oatcake and found a hair stuck in it. My appetite was gone by this point and we just asked for it to be taken away. The fresh sandwiches brought out were nice and only served to highlight how stale the first ones were. It was really very dire and I can only thank the member of staff we dealt with who was apologetic and understanding- he spoke to more senior management and had the bill voided ( i did offer to pay for the drinks and extra sandwiches) which was decent of him. All in all an awful experience and did not meet any of the expectations or description offered on their website or menus. Avoid at all costs. There are many other afternoon tea options in the paisley and glasgow areas. Our server was the only positive aspect of the visit and I fear his pleasant nature is wasted in this place

Two night stay as attending a wedding in Renfrew. Warm welcome on arrival, given full details as to Hotel facilities and when breakfast served. Given key and directions to room on the firts floor. Room was compact and cleaned to a high standard, with TV and free WiFi. Tea and Coffee making available. Breakfast offered a cooked alternative, along with cereal, fresh fruit, cold meats and pastries. All to a good standard and plenty of tables available and staff offered a polite and quick service when clearing plates away between courses. Bar offered a wide range of drinks but as expected hotel prices are always that bit higher. Bottle of Bud plus Vodka & Diet Coke cost £12.30. Plenty of parking available on site and hotel within easy reach of local shopping area of Braehead and Glasgow. All in all a pleasant experience and an enjoyable two night stay, would recommend if planning to visit the area.

Value for money for a change in a top hotel

This was a very, very disappointing stay. I paid £155 and when I arrived and got to my room, some of the fittings were vibrating to the beat of the music from the function going on somewhere else in the building. I asked to move rooms, which they did so I was pleased with that. However, the room I was moved to haven’t been cleaned properly. There was used tissue and a coin on the floor. The carpet was stained (possibly blood), there was grime on the wall, the bedside table glass looked like I haven’t been cleaned in years, and there was food on the side of the chair. Absolutely disgusting. I didn’t stay for breakfast, I left only seven hours after checking in. Would definitely not recommend, I would definitely not come back. On the way out, I passed staircases and walkways in need of much renovation. I understand that the four star rating the hotel has refers to the amenities, but I would expect things to be much better than this.

Nice overall stay, diner good, some noisy guests near rooms.
