Holiday Inn - the niu, Blade Solingen by IHG

Absolutely perfect for business stay. Note that my stay was short.

Very straightforward booking in by pleasant staff. Comfortable, clean and quiet room with gratis refreshment. The place was clean throughout with good bar facilities. Excellent selection of quality breakfast food offered in very pleasant breakfast room. A super place to stay.

Very helpful staff. Food was solid. No A/C which meant opening the window, which meant a lot of street noise. Not much to do about that. Fridge is a nice touch.

Pillows were way to soft and room felt hot even though it was cool outside. Thankfully we were able to open the window

Room was comfortable & clean. Breakfast included with a large variety of items- meats & cheeses, lox, rollmops(herring), breads & rolls as well as yogurts, sliced fresh fruit, cereals and hot eggs, bacon as well as carafes of hot coffee. Free parking and hotel is located on outskirts of city in a quiet section. We were fortunate that the staff at the desk spoke English and were able to help with directions to restaurants and tourist sights. There is a wurstof knives factory outlet a couple of blocks away with prices at least 50% off.

reasonable hotel. overpriced but they all are around Medica trade fair. Hotel staff very welcoming, always saying good morning or evening. room very basic. pillows were the worst, almost empty. small tip get extra pillow and stuff both inside 1 x pillowcase and tie a knot. that worked!!

The daily complimentary breakfast was exceptional. Otherwise this hotel is very simple, with no frills, and rough linens and towels. We would have enjoyed even a small fitness center, but nothing is onsite. However within 5 minutes walking distance is a mall, many shops and cafes, and a few dining restaurants. I'd stay here again if I had business in Solingen.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff in the restaurant and at front desk was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. I really felt at home and decided to stay two more days.

I took a chance on the reduced rate for 3 days and it paid off. The check out girl on 28 June had a wonderful disposition.

We enjoyed our one night at this hotel. We did have some trouble finding it both because there was no street address on our confirmation and because the hotel name is in the process of changing. However the staff was friendly and helpful. We were a bit surprised at the price of 15 Euros per person for breakfast and didn't eat there. There was plenty if free parking, and the WiFi was adequate.
