B&B La terrazza sul mare

We arrived in Avola in May looking for some peace and quiet after a hectic couple of days in Catania - and we found it. With an idyllic garden - palm trees and bananas - right next to the sea, the Terrazza sul Mare is run by a charming family, who all participate and who do everything to make you feel comfortable and at home. The breakfast, all locally sourced and mostly organic, is simply delicious. The rooms are spotless and those facing the sea with balconies are great. Best of all is the family, who are full of good advice and seem genuinely interested in their guests. This is an ideal sport from which to explore the baroque gems of the south - Ragusa, Noto, Modica etc as well as the amazing Siracusa. Easy to park, and within walking distance of a couple of restaurants. Highly recommended!

Very peaceful location in Lido di Avolo, with grassy palm fringed terrace directly accessing rocky shore. Pleasant large room with small balcony. Balcony ok , but shared (albeit with low partition) with neighbouring room so some people might have privacy issues. Location is great if you want out of town location but we only found two restaurants within walking distance (one limited to pizza, the other a rather upmarket fish restaurant ). Surprised that credit cards not accepted despite using one via Expedia to make reservation - caused unecessary trip to bank to get cash which we could have better prepared if this limitation had been made clear on booking.

We chose this hotel because its location right by the sea. You can go down a few steps from the hotel's terrace and enter transparent and clear water. We chose Avola because we knew it was a nice town, and centrally located to visit many sites in the area, either naturalistic like the Vendicari Nature reserve area, or cultural historic like Noto, Modica etc. We enjoyed our stay because of the wonderfully friendly and generous service at this B&B.
