"st. gilgen charmer"

8.0

first of all, st. gilgen is amazing in general. you must go. second, the first thing we noticed was the view from the balcony. wow. mountains and lake view. easy to walk around the area, plenty of restaurants to choose from, has an elevator, separate parking (that is extremely close by, but up a small hill from hotel). at check in, she said she had space but didn't see my reservation. luckily i had not only my print out from hotels.com, but also my direct correspondence verifying the reservation from before we left on the trip. turns out she was looking at my first name as my last name. only problem was i had read a review just like that, so bring all your paperwork! breakfast was nice, basic light breakfast. st. gilgen is the real star. i wish our stay here was longer so i could have enjoyed my view for a few more days!

"Cozy room in St. Gilgen"

10.0

I came to St. Gilgen to relax for a night in the middle of a larger European trip and it did not disappoint. The room was very clean and service was very friendly. There is not much for nightlife in St. Gilgen, but I enjoyed the location near the Wolfgangsee. If you're looking for rest and relaxation, it is a good spot near the Austrian Alps.

"cozy B & B in quaint village"

10.0

This gasthaus is tucked into a quiet area of St. Gilgen. Our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet and the in-room mini fridge was an unexpected treat. The breakfast was very nice with a good selection of meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, yogurt, fruits and eggs. The owner was very helpful with ideas for sightseeing and dinner recommendations. The hotel was a little difficult to find and parking was limited, but we had such a great experience during our two nights there.....we will definitely stay at hotel Schernthaner again!!

"Charming"

10.0

We had a wonderful stay at this warm friendly place. St Gilgen is a very lovely town and this hotel felt like part of this town's charm. The lady owner was very nice and friendly, she was always there in the morning to serve us breakfast in a beautiful dining room. I wish we could stay longer.

"Best accommodation experience in Europe. "

10.0

Welcoming, clean, pretty as a picture inside and out. Room very spacious with brilliant bathroom and lots of thoughtful details. Breakfast room an Alpine delight with generous fresh buffet. Family run with hosts willing and able to provide all sorts of info. The comfortable, well - maintained free bikes made it easy to explore. Highly recommend.

"Outstanding!"

Simply fantastic, no wonder it sells out in tourist season. A lovely family-run establishment near everything and they made every effort to work with my disability/mobility concerns.

"Good"

6.0

All photos of rooms showed large (queen size) beds in rooms BUT I stayed in a room with a small bed (fit for a short teenager) and that's after I sent a request for a LARGE BED. With NO air-conditioner in July and windows open, the room was very noisy with Highway 158 just outside. Parking was a half-block away uphill from hotel. No restaurant in hotel but the nearby Gasthof Zur Post was an excellent restaurant. WiFi was adequate for emails.

"Very traditional hotel, very friendly, lovely flowers"

8.0

My father and I had two single rooms, nos 4 and 5 on the first floor. The hotel is very traditionally furnished. Our rooms both had en suite shower room with hand basin and toilet, TV, plenty of wardrobe space and interconnection balcony so which overlooked the rear of the hotel. The buffet breakfast was very good, choice of hams, cheeses, boiled eggs, toast, rolls, bread, jams, teas, coffee, orange juice, fruit etc. the weather was fantastic but even with our doors wide open all night it was uncomfortably hot as there is no air on or fan in the room, that was the only negative aspect. There is a small parking area for 5/6 cars at the top of the road and a few other spaces behind the hotel. The hotel is very close to the shore of Wolfgangsee and the beautiful centre of St Gilgen. It is also close to the cable car station. There was a little early morning noise from the nearby main road but it was quiet overnight.
