Hotel MM Antequera

Clean, big room, big bathroom, bath tub, comfortable bed. I would stay here again.

The hotel has potential but is sadly let down by a number of factors, primarily the awful meals. More about that later. First the good points. My room ( for one person) was surprisingly large, comfortable and kept immaculately clean. It was also quiet. The staff were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately there was no safe in the room. There was a facility to leave passport, tickets, money etc with reception but that did not seem adequate. The hotel is understaffed with workers doubling up as waiters, bar staff and manning reception. Now to the meals. Limited choice and totally unappealing. For breakfast there were two cereals which had been left out overnight and covered with a large glass bowl. The croissants did not feel fresh and the ham and cheese looked like it had been fashioned from plastic. Guests were limited to one slice of toast with tiny spreads of butter and jam. A fish soup on the menu looked like dishwater and tasted about the same. After just one day, I decided to seek out an alternative place to eat but there as nothing close-by. The nearest I could find was a Tapas bar about a twenty minute walk away. The hotel also hosted a Spanish wedding party one evening which went on until the early hours. It's a shame really because with a much improved menu and more staff the hotel would get a much better reaction from guests. Sorry to say this but it is the worst hotel food I have ever experienced. Obviously the owners don't read reviews, chose to ignore them or just don't care. British companies who book guests into the hotel should take due note of it's shortcomings.

Good location. Sadly however the hotel has seen better days.The decor is drab and unappealing. The dining room forms part of a much larger function room that is poorly sectioned off. Our bedroom was large as was the bathroom. It was adequate but drably decorated. The air-conditioning was poor at times especially as the ambient temperature was exceptionally high. The refrigerator was a waste of time, if in fact you were lucky to have one. There were insufficient staff on duty especially during the evening meal. The one waitress also acted as the bar person and had have the receptionist to help and translate. Therefore service and food quality were not very good at times. The receptionist/bar person didn't know how to serve a simple draught beer. There is no lounge area apart from the reception. We were out and about for the majority of our stay which is fortunate as it's not An hotel to linger around. The WiFi service throughout was very intermittent and sometimes non existent.

Stayed here with Newmarket Travel, the rooms are clean and comfortable; the location excellent both within Antequera itself (an easy walk to the town centre and several good eating places) and also for reaching the key Andalucian locations (under 2 hours drive to Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Ronda). However the breakfast was poor with very limited choice, especially on the days when we had early starts.

We recently stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. The appearance is tired and quite unappealing although our room was larger than expected and the bathroom was well appointed although the complimentary toiletries were very cheap. Only one power point in the bedroom and one shaver socket in the bathroom. No tea/coffee making facilities, no safe and Spanish TV channels only. The free wi-fi worked intermittently in the bedroom but well in the hotel lobby and dining area. Our room was only cleaned every other day! The breakfast was very poor value. However, the hotel was an easy walk to the centre of Antequera where there were some very good restaurants.

We travelled with Newmarket Holidays. We chose this hotel over Hotel Antequera as it's location was better for walking into town and they had twin rooms available for sole use.Have to sit in lobby to get the wifi. Rooms decent size. Breakfasts just adequate (cordial instead of orange juice). BUT be warned - if you have a problem the hotel manager doesn't want to know! On the Sat night there was a wedding party. I went to bed at 11:30pm and hoped the booming music would stop at midnight. At 12:30 I went to see reception. They said it would stop in 5 minutes. It didn't. I asked to speak to the manager and I was told she was unavailable. I asked them to ring her and they said "no". The music boomed on until 01:30 and then the clear up started..... The manger didn't turn up until Monday and then she shrugged her shoulders and turned her back on me. I will be asking Newmarket for a night's accommodation refund.

Hotel is a good three star, location is ideal as there is some parking in grounds and also around hotel, It is an easy walk to town centre. I am surprised by other reviews of this hotel, I found it good value for money.

We booked the Classic Spain Escorted holiday with Newmarket and they booked our party into this hotel for just under a week. The room was clean but a bit sad and tired. When you opened the cupboard to get to the fridge the door scrapped long the floor. We arrived in the early afternoon so decided to eat in the hotel that night. We were told that there was a set menu or an al a carte menu. But only the set menu was available. The food was ok but very basic. I was recommended by the waiter (who was bar man, waiter as well) a dish which was egg and beef with potatoes which turned out to be a scotch egg. But as the meal for two including a bottle of wine was only 28euros it was ok. The breakfast was basic to say the least, croissants in plastic bags, the bread for toast was an ordinary sliced loaf, packet ham slices ,packet cheese slices, very watery orange juice, one cereal option, bacon served up on a normal ceramic plate which was cold within a couple of minuets and very dried grey looking scrambled egg. The fruit option was apples or oranges. After that first day we eat out. One morning we found water coming through the bathroom ceiling dripping into the bath, this was from the room above. We reported it to the hotel but nothing was done in the next three days before we left. It is the worst hotel we have had with Newmarket. All I can say in its favour is that it is cheap and clean and the reception girls were very nice and helpful.

Booked in for 6 nights by NEWMARKET Holidays. Aside of it's location in the beautiful medieval town Antequera ..... there is no really plus side to this hotel. Nothing works, the staff is ignorant and unwilling to deal with simple maintenance issues. Only reception staff speaks some English. The food is poor at breakfast time [half baked rolls and defrosted croissants wrapped in cellophane], inedible meals in evening. The hotel hosts dinner dance parties, that extend into early mornings. I could hear staff shuffling furniture around till 03:00 am and my room was on top floor. Hotel is in breach of Safety Regulations [see the attached pictures of 4 restaurant appliances [each 3 to 5 KW rated], connected to a single domestic socket in the bar, with line running across the floor. This was reported to Hotel Reception and the Newmarket tour guide and .... ignored. The central Air conditioning in rooms doesn't work, the Reception response was ... it will be fixed "tomorrow".
