Lovely property in the heart of Lisbon with beautiful interiors.

Hostess was most helpful throughout the stay. She gave us detailed and helpful information as to what to see and how to get around the city. Garage parking was available. One block from subway and from tram line. Rooms were furnished with very nice, antique furniture.

The owner was always ready to help. The rooms were furnished with beautiful antiques. All rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Free parking too.

I’ve used Hotels.com for years, and have always had great experiences, and written good reviews -not so this time. I was there for five nights with a friend. Our first “oh no” was during check-in. We felt practically held hostage in the little office while the manager(owner??) talked on and on for almost an hour, often putting down Americans for their habits and food choices. Not quite the welcome we hoped for. We always tried to be quiet in the hallway walking by his office, hoping that he wouldn’t come out and start talking on and on again. The facility was ok, clean enough. One issue was that there was only one hair dryer for the whole place. It was never available -we went for days not being able to locate it, and just skipped washing our hair. Not a good feeling. The internet did not work at all in our room - we spent hours standing in the hallway at all hours, waving our phones in the air trying to get a connection. Not good for trying to do our travel research, or communicate with friends/ family back in the US. On the last full day, a fuse was blown and the electricity went out as we were all getting up and ready for the day. I chatted with a gal on hotels.com who said he was on his way to check it out - but we found out later that he was a few hundred km away... the girl in charge was yelling at him on the phone -it was chaotic and not pleasant for us. Would never stay there again, or recommend.

We feel bad writing a poor review for the Macedo B&B because the main proprietor (a slightly older gentleman) was extremely friendly, but can't in good conscience recommend to someone coming through Lisbon. The location is quite out of the way from the heart of Lisbon's main attraction, making for about a 30min walk back from most places at the end of the day - mostly along a big street that wasn't particularly scenic. The b&b itself is also in need of some updating - the wifi was really spotty even in the main hallway and didn't work at all in our room; the bathroom we used appeared to be shared by the owners and wasn't very clean (especially the shower) or tidy; and the "breakfast" was very meager - just cornflakes and frozen bread that you could toast (and on the last day we were there, the milk was all gone so just toast). What really made the experience uncomfortable though was being roomed next to the proprietors' living area and hearing them having a very heated shouting match on our first night. We understand that people have to live their lives, but they could have at least closed the door and/or be a little more considerate that they have paying guests literally 10ft down the hall. Overall very disappointed with our stay.

Overall we were very disappointed because the bed was horrible! The bed was very very hard and small. I suspect that it is antique, like all the rest of the furniture, but I could barely sleep and got horrible neck pain. It was difficult to tell if the shared bathrooms were clean as they were old and needed a bit of updating. Breakfast is not actually served, but some milk bread and Jam were left in the kitchen. The owner is very nice and helpful. The parking was also very convenient! Also note only one room has air conditioning so you will need to request that room if you like air conditioning.

Real Lisbon and the rooms are so well kept with fab antiques-amazing .The staff couldnt have been more helpful .

Thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Good location even though a little out of town. Beautiful furniture. Nice and cozy.
