Fiji Hideaway Resort & Spa

Was put in a downgraded room once i realised went to complain and was told my one was under refurbishment. There is plenty of fragnipani in the resort so didnt understand why i couldnt have my Room till 2 days after a group of 80 teenagers arrived at the resort. The room had been allocated to them since it had space for 4 people and i was by myself. They then forgot to take my room of the groups room list and gave a room key to these kids, so they were in my room when i was out.

They always have big groups there so the indian restaurant is not open and the japanese is permanently closed at the moment. This they dont advertise on the website.

Location for snorkelling was good. Staff were amazingly friendly.

Road noise prominent; poor house keeping provided (no room servicing in the six day stay-towels dropped off once on table old towels not taken away); no milk supplied for tea/coffee facility. Food average with limited selection. Over pricing of hotel quoted taxi transfers.

All meals were fine, pool was clean

No TV or Wifi in our room or Phone. you were asked to contact reception if you needed anything which meant a walk / run depending on the weather, I needed to do more homework before booking

The Hideaway is tired and needs an injection of funds and a complete renovation. The staff are fabulous working hard friendly and doing their best with broken or old facilities. The food was good, the entertainment was basic but fun. Gardens are lovely. The view and the beach are terrific. The area is quiet so nothing walking distance in alternative restaurants. Beds were comfortable. Even the paths need to be fixed before someone has a big fall. Happy hour was great fun with interesting cocktails and loud bar trivia. Went to Sunday church in a local village as an activity offered. We will never forget the singing by Fijians who naturally sing harmonies in 2 to 4 parts. The music was uplifting and joyous. A lovely experience.

The bathrooms in the rooms and public area need retiling and new fixtures. The pool filter system is not functioning to full standard. The boys clean and put in chemicals and do their best to maintain.
