The property was close to town but did not have hot tub as listed, could not get extra pillows. The ones provided were extremely flat. There were no curtains or blinds on any of my windows so when i showered i turned around to have people standing there staring at me naked. Noone is at the desk, u have to call for everything. Could not get my tv to work. No fridge for leftovers. Shampoo but no cond. Just a room like a hostel. Food downstairs is always excellent. Have eaten there several times but will not reccomend or stay again. Not worth the price.

"The best part of the place is leaving"

2.0

We came to Lake Placid on our 30th anniversary. We had a lovely dinner and decided to spend the night before continuing our travel. We chose this place because the bedroom photos made it look charming. Paid online and drove to the hotel. My husband always goes to check in while I wait in the car. No one was there. He had to call a number for someone to drive to the hotel and give him keys. At 8 pm. It wasn’t late. In fact, once we got our things from the car, there was another poor soul standing at the counter trying to get someone. The elevator didn’t work, and even though we were on the 1st floor, it’s up quite a few steps, especially carrying a heavy suitcase and the other things we were bringing from the car. The room was clean and that’s the best I can say. Well, the bed was comfortable. There’s a little card that says they have “free cable tv through the Hulu app”, but we couldn’t get it to work because you need a log in. The WiFi is terrible (and only works on the 1st floor and lobby, apparently), there’s no refrigerator and no ice anywhere so the leftovers from our lovely dinner? Wasted. Our 30th anniversary meal. There’s plenty of room for a fridge too, they just didn’t include one. No ice for anything cold to drink. It does say it’s available upon request but since no one works down there, there was really no way to request it. They left some soap and some packets that say “shampoo and bodywash” on them. There’s NO ROOM in the bathroom to sit any of your toiletries, just a thin short shelf with the soap and a couple of plastic cups on it (for your lukewarm water, I guess). The shower leaks when you turn the tub on and by the time you get the water the right temp, you’re standing in ankle deep water because it doesn’t drain quickly and still comes out of the tub faucet while the shower part is on. The absolute WORST part was that the sink was so close to the wall at the end of the tub that you had to suck in your stomach to get through to the toilet. There’s no way that’s code. It’s only slightly wider than the length of my hairbrush. That was fun in the middle of the night. So, no tv, no ice, no real internet, and a terrible bathroom. I had higher hopes for a 30th anniversary stay. And since we paid online there didn’t appear to be any way for a refund. Stay away.

"Don’t waste time or money"

4.0

We had stayed at the pines inn before but after this stay we will never stay there again. The only thing this place had going for it was it was fairly clean. We had no blinds or curtains on the windows including one in the bathroom. There was no one at the front desk when we got there and our key was not on the counter even though we did the online based registration. We had one pillow each if you can call them pillows. The sheets were on their last thread. We had forgotten something in the room and called to be able to stop back and get it. When we showed up and had to wait 20 minutes for someone to help I was told it had already been thrown out after being told earlier it would be there. Overall horrible experience.

"Credit Card Refund was a huge challenge. Took over 3 weeks!"

2.0

I booked a stay at the Pines Inn for October, 2025. I had to cancel my reservations due to a change of planes. It took over 3 weeks for my credit card to be refunded! I called them three times to express my concern. It was only after the 3rd time that any action was taken. Very frustrating and dissapointing! Be careful of this place!

The rooms including the bathrooms were nice and clean. That and the price point, this was perfect for my needs. But the property needs updates. The building is pretty old and it is obvious from the decor, wall paper etc. If cleanliness is a priority for a budget, this place would meet expectations. If you are looking for fancy, you are in the wrong place.

"Like a ADK trap house"

2.0

Originally booked with the Wolfjaw lodge thru Airbnb , was told while checking in that Airbnb made a mistake in price . Was called by a person in charge and told the room would cost me 240$ a night after the booking was confirmed and paid for thru Airbnb . Was told I could stay one night at the Airbnb price but would have to pay the extra to stay . Offered a sister property the pine inn but had to pay 700$ extra and they would try and get my 890$ back from Airbnb . All lies but in desperation bc I’m working a healthcare contract in the area I paid the extra 700$ to stay at the pines inn , but not thru Airbnb . Come to find out there was no mistake and they were extorting me for more money to stay at this delapitated inn .Paint chipping ,old dirty rugs , holes in the comforters and curtains . Airbnb reimburse me for the original booking plus 20% . But I had to stay at the inn bc it’s peak season and no other hotels available for my entire stay . Probably the worst experience I have had as a travel healthcare provider . Avoid this place at all cost
