We enjoyed a couple of hours sitting on the balcony terrace overlooking Lake Windermere. Really enjoyed watching the different boats coming and going and also away from the crowds. Not sure Bowness is for us anymore. Have been visiting the Lakes for many years. We will definitely return to this spot however felt the drinks were pricy. Toilets had very strong smell of the drains.

The location is amazing. Perfect for the lake and Bowness. It was clean and the staff were fantastic. Views from the hotel bar and restaurant were fantastic.

It feels very dated. The decor could do with being upgraded and refreshed. The breakfast wasn’t a buffet, but instead table service for the hot food. The full English option is basically a small breakfast with 1 of each item. This could be our error for not paying attention to the description but assumed it would be a full buffet. There was a small continental buffet selection, but again limited. Our room was tiny, but we did just pay for a standard room, but was tight and smaller than expected. The shower also leaked so wasn’t the best. You also have to pay for parking, which is £25 a day. This was very expensive and in hindsight we would have been better going to the long stay car park, which is only a minute or 2 extra walk from the hotel one. After paying £150 for 1 night, I would have expected parking to be included, but it seems this is common across hotels in Bowness.
