Archer Hotel Old Town Alexandria

Location: Old Town Alexandria This hotel is an excellent example of what a quality hotel should be. The room was clean and the noise level was non-existent. The service was excellent, staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Service is trending down. Was in town for a 5 day work trip. Light behind headboard in room was inoperable. Called maintenance to assist. Said they would be right up. And hour passed, never showed. I called and canceled the request because I needed to call it a night and get some rest. Before leaving the hotel for the day the next morning, I asked the front desk if they could have maintenance repair the light + have the room serviced while I was away. I came back to the room that evening. Room was not serviced but light was repaired. Bathroom shower soap holder was dirty within the crevices and the hardware to open shower door wasn’t clean. Returned the next day and there was a washcloth in the sink after room was serviced. One of the towels had hair on it. Lamp shade in room is falling off. Takes quite some time for heat to kick on which isn’t ideal in 20 degree weather. One of the elevators was inoperable. I requested an itemized receipt for one of my dinner orders and was told that they would bring it up..never happened. All in all, not the most pleasant stay. Feels like hotel is running down and service isn’t reliable.

Hotel was recently bought and transferred owners. It appeared old. No updates or new furniture. Coach was worn out. Bed was old and way too soft. Horrible nights sleep.

We liked the Balcony. Over looking the town.

The Location is in the middle of the town w/ limited parking to get to the Hotel. We didn't really like the Old Town feel to the Hotel. Our Room had a door to the Hotel Stairway in our actual room.

Wonderful staff, especially Tyler, make this a must for weary travelers. The quality of beds and linens as well create a superb experience. While some may complain about rooms that aren't huge, the room sizes were what should be expected in old cities like NYC, Stockholm, Edinburgh, Versailles, Alexandria, etc. But one does not expect 5-star service in crowded cities; in this arena especially, The Archer is a diamond.

My husband and I celebrated our 31st anniversary at this hotel and honestly, it turned into a bad experience. I would not recommended this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay. The rooms are much smaller than what the website shows, and soon as we walked in, there was an unfamiliar smell already in the room. Instead of addressing the issue, they tried to blame us for it and even added an extra charge on my credit card. This hotel is overrated and overpriced for no reason. Definitely not worth it and we will not be returning.

We had a lovely two-night stay at the Archer, right at the edge of beautiful Old Town Alexandria -- thoroughly enjoyed it, from start to finish! Our room was really spacious, spotlessly clean and comfy. The bed was awesome, the bathroom modern and large. The view from the room was pretty; it looked out on King Street, where we could see twinkling lights on trees all down the street. Special shout-out to the wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable people manning the front desk: Tyler, Sofia and Abby. Thank you so much for your kindness and patience, and for your help making our stay memorable.

We requested a standard size US crib, not a Pack-and-Play, for our 6-month old before we booked the reservation. We were assured that one was available and would be in our room at check-in. To our horror, not only was the crib we were promised not in our room, but instead a ratty, torn, and stained Pack-and-Play. To make matters worse, the “mattress” provided with the unit was not the original that comes with the Pack-and-Play, but some random, ill-fitting, very thin pillow that was too small for the unit. I’m not being dramatic when I say that any parent under 40 in the world knows this is a **potentially fatal** sleeping setup for an infant. Worse yet, in lieu of a fitted sheet for the “mattress”, a loose, thick, and non-breathable blanket was thrown in the crib. The issue was immediately brought to the front desk, who only replaced the setup with something equally dangerous. We ended up having to have a brand new Pack-and-Play rush-delivered from the local Target at our expense; waiting for the delivery delayed our son’s bedtime by 2+ hours. I don’t appreciate Archer putting our son’s very life in potential jeopardy through their negligence. Archer either needs to *stop* advertising that they have safe sleeping accommodations for infants or replace their *entire* “crib” inventory with *proper* cribs with safe-sleep-certified approved mattresses and fitted sheets, or with Pack-and-Plays with the OEM mattress *only*. The next parents in our situation might not know any better, and ****you could kill an infant****.

We were so excited to arrive here, and their special treat for my daughter's 30th birthday was so sweet! Room was lovely, and the staff great. Issues with hot water in bathroom sink that didn't get fixed for 2 days, and continued maintenance in the hotel during out stay made the stay less than perfect. 8 hours with no water at all, and then maintenance noise on multiple days.
