We liked the location, conveniently close to most of the necessities. Most of the staff were friendly enough, although I think that's more to do with the culture of the people as opposed, rather than the hotel itself. The pool was large, clean and well maintained.

Our room was infested with cockroaches. Some large ones were found on day 1 and later on we discovered there were quite a few smaller ones living behind the mini fridge and came out at night. There was also quite a few within the bathroom areas and found some on our headboard. We have photo's to validate. Three mornings in a row, there was no hot water in our room. We mentioned this to reception every morning. We also had an incident with one staff member who was really rude to us and made us feel extremely unwelcome. We tried to report this to management but they would not return our call. Eventually a supervisor handled our complaints, not the hotel manager, but this process took 2 days and we were only taken seriously after we threatened not to pay for our accommodation unless a manager would speak with us about our experience. In the end, they gave us 2 free nights off one of the rooms we booked, as we had booked 2 rooms. Both rooms had similar issues. Online photos are not an accurate or up to date reflection of what The Melanesian looks like today. Included buffet breakfast is very basic. Eggs, toast, muffins, coco pops, cornflakes and basic fruits are all the options, along with ants that run up and down the back wall of where the breakfast is being served. Breakfast is served at the Casa Mia, which is a separate restaurant, but part of the hotel.

Le personnel est absolument adorable et la literie bonne.

Chambre bruyante, notamment du fait des installations sanitaires (on entend le bruit des douches et chasse d'eau des autres chambres). Impossible d'aérer la chambre de manière sécurisée. L'hôtel est vieillissant.

Breskfast was good. The fresh fruit was excellent. The staff in all areas were amazing. So friendly and helpful.

I didn't have hot water the first night. Fixed as soon as I let them know in the morning.
