As always way above expectations. Kara who helped get us rooms was very kind and knowledgeable. Amand who stood tall and fast when we trickled in by groups. Rooms quiet, clean and close together. Extremely wonderful trip.

A short trip into the area for a local event had us staying overnight at this hotel. We've stayed at several different Hampton Inn's over the last few yers and this one was exceptional. The staff were professional, helpful, and friendly. The breakfast was the best we have had at any of the Hampton Inn locations we've visited and all the others were very good. We highly recommend staying at this location and we will certainly do so again the next time we are in town.

we drove by 2 Other Hamptons off this exit of 77 and we are glad we did. This was a very clean relaxing hotel. The bathroom was very clean and large. Our room was perfect. The free breakfast was hot, tasty and complete. The staff was so friendly and clean. I think the hotel may have been redone recently. We are thinking of stying there on our way home too.

Let me start with the real highlight of this property, Kara. From the moment we arrived, this woman was super busy problem solving and helping guests and despite it all...was super helpful, friendly, understanding and apologetic for our wait at check in. Honestly, supervisors should use her as an example when training others on customer service skills...and if she is up for a raise, it is well deserved. Now for the not so good. We travel often and have our check-in down to a routine when we arrive to our room. It was quite late and upon entering the hotel on the 2nd floor, I started to get a feeling as almost every door we passed was beat up and scratched...I said OK, it is worn and seen better days...as long as it is clean. We had two rooms and the first, we opened and the walls were scratched up...OK, no biggie, people aren't careful with their luggage. When we lifted the first mattress (yes, we check...you won't believe some of the things we have found on mattresses, under mattresses, etc.) and under the mattress was disgusting. It looked like it was pee stained in several locations and the largest stain was near the head of the bed, so maybe someone spilled a coffee or a drink? The mattress looked ok and the sheets were clean except for a few black like grease marks which can happen in the machines, so although it gives you the heebie jeebies...you don't touch the dust ruffle and we just had two people bunk up in one bed. Both rooms were "clean', but there just seemed to be "stuff" on some of the surfaces. For example, some of the high touch surfaces like door handles were sticky and had visible substance on them in both rooms...these high touch surfaces should be cleaned and especially post-COVID most places have implemented higher standards. We packed Clorox wipes and took care of these areas ourselves. In the other room (non stained), there was white stuff dripped on the table, the desk had stuff on it and the bedside lamp had white stuff on it. Kara had texted to make sure everything was okay with the rooms, so I texted a picture of the stains under the mattress. She called and apologized, we said we were fine and she asked that we follow up with Amanda the next day. We settled in and said we would be fine as the sheets appeared to be clean and we had Clorox wipes for the rest. After a couple of hours, I woke up and thought I nust have overslept. I sat up and it was like someone shined a flashlight in my face...I thought "what in the world?!?!" and realized the curtain was short and the streetlight was very brightly shining in the room. More annoying than a real problem, but if you are someone that can't sleep unless it is dark..hopefully your room is better or bring a mask. It wasn't until the next morning when we saw spots on the floor and a couple of streaks on the bathroom sink area that we figured, somw of the white substances must be paint. However, I will say particularly for the bathroom...a quick wipe with the Clorox wipe and picking up the edge of one of the streaks, I could peel off the paint...so that could have been done and cleaned. Wiping surfaces went a long way. All in all, the mattresses are worn and lumpy, the floors are weird with dips and they just seem thin? as they creak like crazy (have never really had that), noise in the bathrooms is bad like you can hear full conversations of your neighbors (did not seem to extend into the bedroom thankfully), curtains need replaced to keep out light (super thin in one room and short in the other), attention to details and cleaning would give people a sense of reassurance that they can overlook the beat up furniture and dated decor. Breakfast area was clean and had a good selection of food items. Shower height was amazing especially for tall people, water pressure good, the toilet height...not so much, it was low. The location of the hotel was quiet and safe, a bit of a drive from highway, but the description tells you the location. We are fortunate to travel often. Over the past 12 months, we have spent 35 nights in 19 different hotels. Unfortunately this was our worst stay and despite Kara being a phenomenal staff member, we won't return. Would rather pay a few dollars more and stay in Hillsville closer to the highway or drive a bit further on our path and go to our typical Mt Airy property stay. Others have commented that the facility is dated, but clean so maybe we just had a couple of rooms that missed the mark.
