The Location and big rooms.

We didn't like the idee that the birds are left to fly inside the eating hall, where they try to pick from the quest plates and make a mess on the chairs & tables.

No fridge and no mineral water provided in the room (we were provided a bottle of "tap" water instead). Given the price we paid, we were surprised not to get a fridge and mini bar in the room, as most of the accommodations we stayed in Namibia had them by default. We would also recommend other guests to check always with the staffs if the meals and coffee etc are included - they do not specify what is included in the price unless you ask, and you may be surprised to be asked to pay after you already had them. The air-conditioning was set at 16 degrees but did not cool down the room at all. However, it was making funny noise throughout the night, which made it hard to sleep. The outside sitting area is facing the main building and other cottages, so basically no privacy and too much light pollution to see the stars in the night.

Staff went out of their way to accommodate us. We had to check in late due to car trouble, but it was not a hassle. I was just sorry we missed the sunset at Gondwana lodge. The next morning we wanted to see the sunrise over the canyon. They allowed us to have a late breakfast. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional. Food is really good.

Das sehr schön als „Dorf“ angelegte Village, mit vielen Köcherbäumen in der Mitte, liegt sehr ruhig in einem von Bergen umrahmten Tal. Die Häuser haben meist zwei Wohneinheiten, die gut ausgestattet sind, haben allerdings keine Kühlmöglichkeiten. Essen und Getränke werden im Haupthaus angeboten, das Dinner wird separat verrechnet, ebenso die dazu genommenen Getränke wie auch der Konsum an der Bar. Ein schöner Pool lädt zur Erfrischung ein. Es gibt eine Hikingtour auf einen Berg, die man in 2-3 Stunden bewältigen kann, bei Sonnenschein aber sehr schweißtreibend. Man kann an einem Sundownerwalk teilnehmen, der am Abend stattfindet und auch für wenig geübte machbar ist. Abends ist das Dorf mit vielen kleinen Lampen in einem gelben Licht illuminiert, was schön aussieht, aber für das Sterneschauen nicht von Vorteil ist. Dazu muß man sich ein Stück vom Village wegbewegen. Ganz dunkel ist aber dann auch nicht. Das Personal war durchgängig sehr höflich, respektvoll und hilfsbereit, was einen Aufenthalt sehr angenehm macht. Zum Fish River Canyon kann man selbst fahren oder über die Rezeption verschiedene Angebote wahrnehmen. Wir waren mit dem Aufenthalt im Village sehr zufrieden.

Mehrere Hikingtouren verschiedener Schwierigkeitsgrade wären schön.
