What a unique spot, total seclusion yet close to the park. Beautiful gardens and flowers throughout. The pictures can't do it justice.

"Magical cottage!"

10.0

My husband and I had the privilege of staying at this special home for 3 nights. It is tucked away and very quiet and private, but also very conveniently located close to Volcano National Park and only a mile away from Volcano Village and it's shops and restaurants. The cottage was immaculate and extremely well-appointed. We loved the outdoor shower and hot tub, and used both fireplaces during our stay. We even got to meet Paul upon our arrival- he was as lovely and friendly in person as he was via email. I had looked a lots of B&B and rental options for this portion of our trip and I am so glad we decided to stay at Volcano Mist. Highly recommend this lovely retreat!

"Perfect location, perfect cottage!"

10.0

Only 3 miles from Volcano National Park so easy to go see the lava flows day and night. And the cottage...lovely and secluded with private hot tub and outdoor shower. It's for couples only, just the one bedroom that only fits a queen bed. Two fireplaces, one outside and one inside. It was classy, nothing cheap. They've thought of everything- laundry detergent, bug spray, all the kitchen utensils you need, coffee, milk, etc. We were lucky enough to be there on a Sunday for the local farmers market 3 minutes away. Also enjoyed the Thai restaurant and seeing the glass blower studio nearby. Even in the rain, was a cozy place to be. Highly recommend!

"A Piece of Eden secreted away in Hawaii"

10.0

This is a hideaway that's at a secluded end of an avenue leading off from the volcano village area. It's privacy and sense of peace and quiet is unparalleled in my experience till now. My husband and I absolutely revelled in the romantic misty and forested surroundings. The luxurious outdoor jacuzzi was a welcome balm to sore muscles. Enough thanks cannot be owed to the owners for loaning this beautiful cottage for others to enjoy! The gentle and completely unobtrusive presence of the caretaker in a neighbouring cottage is a good support. The interior of the cottage is also very comfortably and tastefully furnished.

"Wahi Malie (Place of calmness)"

10.0

Mahalo for a wonderful stay at your Wahi Malie (place of calmness). We enjoyed hiking and other activities during the day and then retreated to the Volcano Mist Cottage in the evenings. We loved the secluded outdoor hot tub. We got takeout food from Thai Thai close by in Volcano Village and enjoyed it on the covered lanai while we listened to the peaceful sounds of the songbirds in the rain forest and warmed up with the outdoor fireplace. Volcano Mist Cottage is tucked away in complete seclusion. What a great way to renew, refresh, and "recharge." Highly recommended!

"Lifelong Memories"

10.0

This charming property and location will leave you with lifelong memories. A perfectly positioned cottage deep in a lush rainforest provides the perfect ambiance. Once you have the fire going and hear the rain drops on the roof all of your senses will be completely immersed. It is one of those special places we feel blessed to have found and highly recommend. Close enough to enjoy some of the best the area has to offer while at the same time giving the sense of complete seclusion. We look forward to our next trip back.

"Wild, romantic and luxurious charm with a fantastic location !"

10.0

My wife & I spent 3 days in the Volcano Mist Cottage in August and were completely bowled over by the romantic surroundings and heavenly(literally) beauty of the place. It offers complete seclusion and privacy with only the sounds of nature to disturb you. Located at the dead end of the 9th road, the house is tucked away in a corner and not visible from the road. There is a very large garden which is also completely private. It was great to sit under the stars in the garden(with a few bugs and mosquitoes for company as well) and watch the clear Hawaii sky amongst the tropical trees. The house is made of timber, has high quality fittings and the owners have made sure that its well stocked for comfort. (Basic kitchen essentials, lots of water, wi-fi, books, music, etc). There is a jacuzzi at the back, again completely private. In short its a romantic heaven for a couple and highly recommended. With the Volcano National Park just about 3 miles away, it gave us ample time to enjoy the cottage along with the park. With intermittent rain and sunshine, we experienced all the charm of this delightful place. The cottage is quite easy to reach and google maps provides an accurate location. However its good to watch out for the turn into the Pearl Street, which is a bit difficult to see from the highway due to poor signage and we missed the turn a couple of times. Its quite close to the Volcano village which has restaurants and 2 grocery stores. A tip - buy your groceries at Hilo for your entire stay. If you must buy it at Volcano, go for the True Value store which is considerably better stocked and cheaper. A truly enchanting place that deserves much more than 5 stars !

"Utterly Charming, Utterly Secluded & Totally Relaxing"

10.0

When we booked this place, we had no idea that where we would be staying was a really sweet tiny cottage in the middle of a temperate rainforest ... not that there was any lack of information, it is just you don't realise what an incredible environment this cottage is situated in! Other reviewers have noted it charm: we loved how secluded it was - it could have been a thousand miles from civilisation (it isn't) for the privacy that it offered. During our time there, it was quite cold and seemed to rain constantly - no doubt as a result of the environment that the (very nearby) volcano creates ... this meant that we had little motivation to use the outdoor spa or shower, which were lovely touches to the property. As our can see from the photos, there is an abundance of timber ... so the decor is not modern by any stretch, but there are good facilities and the heater did a great job of keeping us warm as it was quite chilly. We didn't try the TV so we can't comment on the "entertainment", but the owners supply some breakfast goodies so we didn't have to visit the local market :) Folks that are considering this property should appreciate that it is very small: it is a cottage in the correct sense of the word! For my partner and I, the space was ample ... but it is unlikely to be suitable for more than two people. We experienced some trouble gaining access to the property as we had booked via Expedia: apparently the owner send through an email that advises on access instructions shortly before a visit. We never received this and couldn't enter - we later learned that this is a common problem. A further complication was that there is no mobile coverage at the property, so we had to drive a couple of miles down the road and try to reach the agent. While it all worked out in the end, it wasn't a smooth check-in process. If you're booking via Expedia, make sure you have your access email before approaching the property!

"Secluded getaway in the jungle"

10.0

We only stayed for 3 nights but they were unforgettable. About a mile from volcano park, complete seclusion in the middle of the rain forest, (yet still easily accessible) and the owners have pretty much thought of everything you might need during your stay. We were also given plenty of information of what to do in area. If you like nature and privacy, this was the best getaway imaginable.
