Volcano Mist Cottage

We loved our stay at Volcano Mist. It's at the end of a long dead end lane - total privacy. The cottage is gorgeous inside and out. All timber framed and very cozy. We used the wood fireplace inside, the one outside was broken from all the rain we'd had recently. However we still did enjoy sitting out on that lanai. The outdoor hot tub was wonderful, the kitchen was fully equipped...all so comfortable that we couldn't wait to get home after a big day in the park. It was relaxing and pampering to stay there. I can't recommend enough!

The place is beautiful. it is a cottage in the rain forest. Everything about is was excellent. I would stay there again.

This was our third stay at Volcano Mist, and certainly won't be our last. At road's end In the midst of tall ferns and flowers, all you'll hear is the sound of songbirds. The cottage has a full kitchen, a living room and bedroom. There is a hot tub under a pavillion a few feet away. Five minutes from Volcano Village, ten from the national park, the cottage is perfectly placed.

We stayed here on the recommendation of the owners of Ho'oilo House (another great place on Maui). This is a lovely cottage tucked away in the rain forest within 10 min of Volcano National Park and about a half hour from Hilo. The lanai and outdoor hot tub/shower are fantastic. This is a very restful and restorative place to stay but within minutes of great hiking and a great arts community (Volcano Village). Plus we were very appreciative of a nice military discount. Highly recommend!

The cottage was so charming. They thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. It is your own little paradise and close to volcano national park.

Awesome Location! The cottage had every amenity needed and more! The owners went out of their way to create a rain forest retreat. All of the personal touches were very much enjoyed...would definitely stay there again. 10 minutes to the Park was perfect for all of our adventures.

My wife and I and our 9 year old son stayed here for 2 nights in June. We wished to visit the volcano and do some hiking as part of a 2-week trip around the Big Island and we chose this cottage as our base after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! We've never experienced anything quite like it before. It really is like living in the middle of a rain forest. The cottage itself is quaint, well-furnished and very clean with all the facilities needed for our stay, including a dvd with a small selection of movies. The real added-value though is provided by the location (amidst the trees of the forest and only a few minutes by car to the Volcanoes National Park) and the external facilities of the cottage. The external seating area surrounded by the forest is a great place to enjoy breakfast and to relax with a drink after a hike. The outside shower is a great feature and there's something quite liberating about showering al-fresco (don't worry, there's no prying eyes apart from the wildlife in the trees), but the top luxury is the small spa area, set back slightly from the rear of the cottage, where we could relax in a hot tub with the trees and giant ferns of the forest just feet away from our faces. It really is a little piece of luxury in the middle of a rain forest.

Wonderful place to stay. The owners have thought of everything to make you comfortable. I want to go back.

Had long drive from Hilo during rush hour in the pouring rain. Had no problem finding cottage in Volcano. The lights were on and we found the cottage to be very warm and welcoming. There was fruit on the counter and milk for our cereal in the morning. Beautiful rainforest surrounding the cottage. The whole cottage was decorated and felt very zen-like. Enjoyed every minute here and would love to return.

Lovely cottage in the rainforest. Good size, everything needed for a comfortable stay - kitchen, pantry, linens, hot tub, books, videos, basic cable and Wi-Fi. Very convenient to Volcano Village and the National Park. If you want to spend a few days in the Hilo area, this is the place I would recommend.
