Relais & Chateaux Schönegg

We arrived to find out that we were the only guests in the hotel for the night....the summer season had just started and it was the first night. Needless to say we were treated like VIP's! The hotel staff was absolutely amazing. From a personalized breakfast buffet to making sure we knew exactly what to do in Zermatt, the customer service was fantastic. The mountain view room is a must. By far the best view of the Matterhorn from the town. Would recommend to all of my family and friends. Thanks for making our honeymoon memorable!

Hotel Schonegg was a great choice: very close to Sunnegga and bus stop, easy walk into town, very good facilities, friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. We will definitely stay there again.

This hotel is terrific. Easy 10 minute walk from the train station (or the taxi is about 10 euros). The hotel is in an elevated position so offers great views. There is a tunnel/lift from the main town level so it is very easily accessible. The funicular up to one of the ski areas is a level 100 metre walk from the hotel tunnel entrance. The bus to the matterhorn ski areas stops near the hotel tunnel entrance. The walking trails from the mountains back to the town are very interesting and easily navigated. Some walks pass through some lovely villages with a range of dining options (spectacular views included).

Chalet Hotel Schönegg staff was very attentive in helping create restaurant reservations or address questions. Close to town, restaurants, and shuttle to ski resorts. Would highly recommend!

Lovely hotel, fantastic views of the Matterhorn. The staff was simply outstanding, not only helpful but also very nice and friendly. We ended up eating everyday there as the food was just amazing too. Can't fault on anything. Amazing stay, definitely recommend.

Lovely family owned and operated hotel

The Hotel Schönegg was a delight. The staff was incredibly helpful (calling two restaurants for reservations each night I was there), the room was comfortable and warm, and the view was delightful. It's situated up on the hill so it's closer to the ski lifts than the other hotels, but make sure to ask about the secret elevator before you arrive. It will save you a walk up the hill with your bags.

The staff at the Schoenegg was very friendly, helpful and efficient. We were able to ski into the hotel and the train up to the mountain is only a short walk away. Breakfast was good but more importantly, the Gluehwein (home made after the hotel's own recipe) was amazing. Other positives were the view from the room, a nice spa area, cozy bar/restaurant, overall cleanliness of the hotel/rooms. The room itself was comfortable but the beds could use an upgrade. If it wasn't for the beds, I would have definitely agreed with the 4.5 star average rating.

Stayed for Christmas. Had a beautiful room with amazing views. Hotel package included breakfast every day that was perfect including eggs, bacon, assorted breads, champagne, fresh squeezed orange/apple juice. Hotel is situated up on a hill at the edge of the downtown area. There is a tunnel that leads from town that provides easy access to the hotel via an elevator. Ski in Ski out of the Sunnega Lift (fast train that shoots you up through a tunnel to the base of the lifts). Main street of downtown is only a couple minutes away. Would highly recommend.

4stars , but compering to other EU hotels its like 5stars.
