Really lovely stay

Absolutely beautiful room. King size bed, real tile in the rooms. Beautiful balconies.

Traffic noise

The pool did not have functioning lights. One was hanging out halfway. The people above us kept stomping the whole night.

Pool area was under construction with lot of noise. Rooms were nice, but not quite 5 star.

Property is in pretty bad shape. Tons of deferred outside issues. Was clean but lots of rotten wood, broken concrete, rusty iron railings throughout the place on the outside. Should be a gourmet breakfast for the price. Only thing available is coffee (no decaf) and hot water for tea & a few very lonely pieces of fruit which dwindled as the week progressed. Way overpriced but no other options in Castroville.

The Hillside Boutique is anything but a “Boutique”. It is mainly a run down facility undergoing some major improvements. During this renovation, the guest will experience horrible house housekeeping and lack of amenities expected with the nightly rate. This guest experienced hair in the cracked bathroom sink with toilet paper and even more hair on the bathroom floor. Family members in their rooms experienced a small scorpion when turning down the bed and no towels. No vacuums were observed with the house keeping staff, just O-cedar spin buckets. As for amenities, the renovated restaurant with the facilities best view is order on-line and carry out only. Other amenities include, no ice machine, construction 7 days a week, a staff that offers frequent apologies with little improvement and excessive road noise in those buildings that overlook a demolished gravel parking lot. This place is a joke for the nightly rate charged. Contact was made with Robert Miller, the General Manager who in essence apologized, offered excuses and said they were working on it. My, my my!

Very unique stay! Loved the casual atmosphere!

This is my third time to stay at Hillside. It’s always been a good stay but the renovations really made this time more enjoyable. Our dinner there was super tasty and well prepared. Clean and spacious rooms are always a plus.

Convenient to San Antonio and very nice! Rooms are appointed nicely. Enjoy watching sunrise on the porch! It’s our go to place when we travel to the area.
