I don’t usually leave very negative reviews but given people are paying money to stay in a hotel I think this warrants it. There’s municipal construction around the whole hotel, you can hear it day and night even staying on the 25th floor. Unlike Europe it doesn’t stop at a reasonable hour, the first night it was still going at 2am. This isn’t just a niggle, you will be disturbed. The front desk leave a note and supply earplugs so that tells you all you need to know. Next thing is how thin the walls are, I could hear my neighbours and their kids especially the little ones given they were screaming at each other frequently. Stay elsewhere, the Hilton is so much nicer. I’m sure the other JW is better. If you’re paying you should be able to rest and sleep. Not possible here currently.

First time visit and stayed in JW Marriott Shenzhen. Beautiful hotel and I was able to used and confirmed my BonVoy suite room request ahead of my arrival. The hotel has great and attractive lobby. The suite hotel was great but missing welcome amenities which something that maybe a miss from the team. The lounge was nice and cozy. I had few drinks and cocktails during the happy hour. They also have interesting games and items available in the lounge which you can play and enjoy. I enjoyed the suite room and on top of all these, the breakfast selections were amazing! Can’t try out all the varieties. Happy stay and already planned to come back again in 2026.

Location is convenient

Property needs renovation. The room I stayed in was newly renovated, but the corridor and common area is old and looking tired

We recently stayed at the JW Marriott Shenzhen, an elite five-star hotel, and were impressed by its outstanding service, luxurious facilities, and the overall guest experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and professional. The Executive Lounge and pool area were superb — a real highlight of our stay. We would, without hesitation, highly recommend this hotel and would happily return. However, there was one significant issue which had a major impact on our stay and unfortunately can’t be overlooked. On arrival, we were escorted to our Executive Floor room by the receptionist. The moment the door was opened, we were hit with a strong, unpleasant smell of cigarette smoke. The room had a small white unit switched on, presumably to deal with the odour, so we hoped it would quickly resolve the problem. We regret not saying something immediately, but assumed the machine would work while we enjoyed the hotel facilities. When we returned later that evening, the smell was still horrendous and unchanged. The machine was flashing an “FF” error. After some Googling, we discovered this simply meant the water tank was full. Housekeeping brought a replacement, but the same error appeared. We emptied an overflowing tank ourselves and realised the machine was just a dehumidifier, not an air purifier — so it had done nothing to improve the air quality. The smoke smell made it very difficult to sleep that night. On checking out, we realised the extent of it — clothes in my suitcase from that room reeked of cigarette smoke, to the point they had to be sealed in a separate bag to avoid contaminating the rest. Our biggest disappointment is that the receptionist, who entered the room before us, must have been fully aware of the smell but still handed the room over. In our view, a room in that condition should have been taken out of service, not offered to guests. We didn’t raise it at the time (something we regret), as we are confident the hotel would have add
