The Blue Boar - Historic Country Inn near Stratford-upon-Avon

Exactly as photo, comfortable , clean , and a superb view across the fields to wake up to. Food is amazing! Already booked my next stay!

Location was ideal, unfortunately arrived too late for supper. We ordered a take out - bar staff was so helpful. Room was spacious & had great bathroom. Breakfast was delicious & great value.

Steve's so called humour. We hadn't met, we came down to breakfast & he greeted us with 'we don't offer breakfast ' - great shock & upset me hugely. No mention of steep stairs to room on booking Almost too much to navigate.

Our room was small, but it was clean and had everything we could need, including mini showergels, hairdryer, iron board, towels, coffee, and even leaflets for whats nearby. It is well though out, whitch was nice to see. Bed was confortable, and we could regulate the radiators to suite our liking for room temperature. We did have dinner on the night we were staying and the meal was very tasty. Slightly pricy, but enjoyable.

Tv was tiny with no channels working. Considering the cottage is in the middle of a countryside with nothing else to do, it was rather dissapointing. When we first arrived, our bathroom stank of curry, whitch was really unpleasant, and I can only assume it was because our bedroom was above the kitchen. During the dinner I was very dissapointed to see a whole page dedicated to Indian cuisine, which has nothing to do with the heritageof the inn. Considering the history of Blue Boar Inn, this was highly inappropriate and rather offensive, taking in consideration that no other cuisines were offered. Rooms didn't have sound proofing and we could hear everything from the nearby rooms. We had a room facing the street and ant night cars did keep us awake. Would we stay again, possibly yes, but I would want to see more English heritage, English cuisine, a taste of local ales would be nice. I would also be wantinting to stay in the rooms facing the car park.

This was a Birthday Treat, our evening meal was very good and the breakfast was of a good standard. The room was a good size, good bed, a good size shower and quite. The restaurant was very busy so it was as well we had booked.

The stairs from the Bar to the Bedrooms has a twist but a member of staff was available to help will the suitcase.

The location and the food.

We didn't like our room which was at the end of the corridor on the ground floor. The room was tired and in need of refurbishment. There was laminate on the floor rather than carpet and the bed wasn't particularly comfortable - the mattress had a hard edge to it and was quite springy. It seemed the room was more geared towards anyone with a disability and, indeed, that was evident in the bathroom. Having stayed at the Blue Boar many times over the last 15 years or so, we were quite disappointed on this occasion. Also, the member of staff who checked us in seemed unable to muster a smile over the time we were there and was in no way welcoming or friendly on our arrival.

Food in restaurant for dinner was very good.

Room was dirty, blinds were broken, bed had obvious springs protruding. Terrible at any level and especially for a so called Superior king room.

Great choice of meals for dinner, all well presented and tasty. The staff were very friendly

The bed was a bit uncomfortable, but otherwise the room was well appointed, with a hairdryer and iron, plus tissues and toiletries and the tray of beverages, etc was replenished daily.
