Dar El Médina

Au cœur de la médina ,nous avons passé une nuit très agréable dans ce bel hôtel dont la chambre est bien équipée ( produits de soins, sèche cheveux bouilloire pour thé et café). Le petit déjeuner est exceptionnel et ultra copieux. Personnel très aimable soucieux de notre bien être. Encore, merci .

The best part (aside from the authentic architecture that the designers merged beautifully with modern comfort) is definitely the staff: kind, attentive, professional and helpful at all times. The location is good (keep in mind most taxis won’t drop you off or pick you up at the entrance, but 1 to 10 minutes away depending on the car size), our room had everything we needed and was clean, which we appreciated more than I can express, the mattress was comfortable (at least for persons weighing around 60 kg), and the breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The rooftop restaurant also serves very good food!

I travelled with my mother (annual birthday present) and she’s quite fit, but in her early 70s. Because of that I asked for a room with as few stairs as possible when I made the reservation and somehow ended up on the top floor with the private bathroom down a rather narrow staircase (a level below). While they communicated this was subject to availability and I understand that, our room was also right under the kitchen ventilation system on the roof which usually ran up to 10-10:40 pm local time (midnight or later on the time zone back home) and made falling asleep a bit of a challenge. What was utterly unpleasant, though, was the pervasive mold present in the bathroom, especially in the shower area. Under no circumstances should that be present in a 4* establishment, and I was surprised to find a review on Maps from a couple of years before written by someone who had stayed in the same room, so I didn’t bother telling them about it since they were also fully booked. I really hope they do something about that, as it’s easily fixable with a ventilator and proper care - it’s not a nuisance, but a health hazard.

I really liked this hotel. It had a very authentic Tunisian local atmosphere, which made the stay feel more special and genuine. The staff were extremely kind, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights was definitely the rooftop restaurant. The view over the city was beautiful, especially at sunset, and the food was absolutely delicious. Overall, I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

It's a beautiful old building in an amazing location with a wonderful rooftop with views over the city. Breakfast was fab. The staff were amazing. It's just steps away from the souk and major monuments.

A bit noisy if you have a room facing the street but it's a vibrant medina so we found it enchanting and to be fair, it was quiet during the middle of the night so we slept well.
