Silver Dart Lodge

We were here only one night but very much enjoyed Baddeck and our stay at Silver Dart Lodge. The staff were all extremely helpful and accomodating. We sat in the bar area which had a pleasant view to do some work. I wish there were more time to explore the bikes, trails, etc. I would stay here again.

The room and the staff were great. We took advantage of the heated pool. Loved being able to walk to most places.

I didn’t like that the room smelled like a strong cleaner or insecticide. Also, the room seemed unprepared for guests. No coffee, no mugs, things not plugged in.

Good place to stop for a night. Chalet amenities are not new, but in good condition. Prices are fair.

The room was not clean enough (too dusty or other air quality issues) so I got strong allergies and have to take medicines during the stay

We received a warm welcome from the reception staff. Didn’t meet any other hotel staff. Silver Dart Lodge is showing its age in a few ways. The exterior woodwork is beginning to peel and the floorboards on the balconies were occasionally worn and needed new paint. The screen doors onto the lake-facing balcony were wonderfully old fashioned but very noisy to open and close. The room itself looked tired and in need of some TLC. Wallpaper starting to peel, old fashioned bathroom decor, low ceiling that felt claustrophobic. There are not enough powerpoints in the room and they are all hard to reach, hiding behind furniture or down very low on the wall. There was no grab handle in the bathroom, making it harder to get in and out of the, fortunately, low silled bath. We spent two nights and enjoyed the views from the balcony outside our room, second floor in the main lodge. The bed was comfortable and we were warm enough with enough quilts and pillows. There were enough towels and toiletries provided in the bathroom. Since we were out and about all day, we didn’t need much more than a good bed and a hot shower. Recent reviews about the breakfast put us off so we ate elsewhere. Overall, it is a pleasant enough place to stay.

Beautiful views of the lake, main room was very nice. However, the chalets have no sound attenuation between them. I could hear the family next door, and feel their kangaroo of a child jumping until 10pm and starting again at 6am. The bathroom smelled of urine, it needs updated as does the kitchenette.
