"typical 2star hotel in cities of india"

4.0

this hotel is the norm for indian standards. The rooms are small, musty and although they have windows, there is no view..The housekeeping is not to western standard and the bathrooms definitley need a refurb and a good clean. The location is good thats if you want to venture out into the horrendous infrastructure and extremley congested and poor roads. Yes this is still a third world country, but for what we paid, you can get MUCH MUCH BETTER in all of the other asian cities<except india>Generally budget accommodation in India is of very poor standard especially in the cities..Come on India, pull your socks up and start making hotel standards better.

"Good hotel for young travelers on a budget."

6.0

The hotel itself is unimpressive. I had no hot water, though it was not an issue since the weather was warm. The sheets had a couple of rust stains while the comforter has a couple of 'mystery stains'. Major areas are clean, but you can tell that dirt and grime is accumulated in corners and light switches. The towel smelled of bleach, but that's a good thing. However, staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Location is also good for visiting southern Mumbai. I felt safe enough walking around in the area (standard travel precautions always apply, though), however I did not venture out at night because after a full day of walking around I was ready to pack it in by sundown. Overall a decent hotel with great staff but you have to be a bit forgiving when it comes to cleanliness.

"Solid Hotel"

This was a nice hotel, not expensive by US standards. There was AC which was very appreciated and it was a 50rs taxi ride to the historical center of Mumbai. We enjoyed our stay!

"Not bad for the location & price"

8.0

Initially I was somewhat sceptical after reading the reviews but had not much of a choice as I wanted to live close to this location. I am not disappointed as it was as described on the internet. The staff were friendly and the manager was really helpful. They let me shower even after checking out as my train leaves pretty late at night. They checked my train confirmation as well. The square footage in Mumbai is comparatively smaller than many places in India and so is this hotel room. My only suggestion would be that the bathroom could have been somewhat tidier and the hot water could have been switched on automatically rather than reminding the staff to do so. This place is in a busy location and you have to bear with honking during busy times. The hotel is above a restaurant called 36 Oak & Barley and it would have been easier if this would have been mentioned in the address. I would say as per the cost of living in Mumbai, this is good value for money and better than hotels I stayed in other cities.

"Shabby and horrible."

2.0

This place is awful. The rooms were dirty, tatty, noisy and not a single Mumbai taxi driver I spoke to (which was a fair few) had ever heard of the place, let alone knew how to find it. The staff were just plain rude and couldn't have made their indifference much more obvious. I stayed in 3 other hotels during my trip, this was by far the worst of them all and that 3 includes 2 others which were cheaper than this hole.

"Hotel Royal Castle, Gowalia Tank, Mumbai"

8.0

We spend three nights at the Royal Castle Hotel in Mumbai. The "super delux" room was comfortable and clean with AC and a private toilet and shower room. Staff were helpful and responded to my emails prior to our arrival. The hotel location is near Kemps Corner in an area known as Gowalia Tank - which taxi drivers seem to know. The location is pretty good to gain access to south Mumbai, and easy walking distance (10 minutes) to Grant Road train station. The hotel doesn't have its own restaurant but there are numerous places to get a bite or have a tea/coffee within a few minute walk. All in all its a good choice for a reasonable price in a convenient location for south Mumbai.

"Good"

2.0

We specifically requested a twin/two single beds. There was no correspondence from them to state that wasn't possible. we arrived to a double bed. They did provide an extra single mattress which was expected for us to sleep on the floor. After seeing rats run up the piping at the front of our hotel neither of us was game to sleep on the floor. There was complimentary water in the room…which was opened and simply refilled from the tap. An inexperienced travel couldve found themselves with Bombay belly on their first day . big thumbs down from me.
