Havila Hotel Geiranger

Location is absolutely perfect, our view from the room was fantastic. Breakfast is very good, a lot of choices and variety. But the rooms… that’s a different story. There is no place to put a suitcase, not even a luggage rack or any shelves for clothing. And the bathroom… there is a tub, about 25 inches (60cm) high. And you have to climb into it to be able to shower, no rails whatsoever (I am sure my parents wouldn’t be able to climb into it) When you make it into the tub, the shower hose is short, so you have to duck to rinse, no hook for the shower hose. The toilet is loose, and forget about a soft closing toilet seat. The rooms need update urgently.

They gave us a double room for a family by mistake, then they changed us to a family room but the pictures they showed when doing the reservation where of a refurbished room and the one we got was really old. We asked for a change but they had no more rooms. We wanted to leave but they had made us pay before seeing our room. The reception didn’t give us any alternative. Very disappointing. The breakfast was not very good either.

Nice views and balcony. Very walkable. Hotel is a little outdated. We were told there was free parking at time of booking and then when we got there was told that changed and was now about $50/day usd. Staff was very friendly and they accommodated us with a baby crib!

Location is where lovely, close to water and nice restaurants. The price for the room was extremely expansive, compere to Swedish hotel standards. Old furniture and style. We had a “hydraulic pump” noice all night with an interval of 45sec. Hard beds. The breakfast was good.

The rooms are old-fashioned and don't have air conditioning, but compared to the price of other hotels, this is a perfectly fine option for one night's accommodation. Very good food in the restaurant. The hotel does not have parking for its gutests.

Fantastic surroundings. But the overall impression of the hotel and our room is old and a bit in need of an upgrade/overhaul. The breakfastbuffet was ok, but not up to standard compared to e.g. Scandic, Clarion or similiar known brands.

The hotel is like from 70's and requires an update. There was a bath in the room and a very weird towel dryer which did not feel safe to have. An infrared heater pointing towards towels. The view towards the fjord is extremely nice and that is what you are paying for. The service in the reception was very good, especially the Finnish speaking young woman. Parking is very expensive and at day-time the parking area is extremely full. The breakfast was good as well. E-car charging is provided by external company but in that area you do not need to pay the parking fee, just for the electricity. Parking there becomes even cheaper than in the parking area.

Hotellrom tydelig renovert siden vi var der forrige gang! Minus: Vanskelig å finne parkering midt på dagen. Hotellet har ikke egne parkeringsplasser! Måtte betale kr 550,- for en dags parkering! Union hotell har egen parkering!
