Black Mountain Inn

We were happy with the stay but disappointed that it did not include breakfast as had been assumed. Had to sleep with open windows because of no AC and it is on a busy street and beside a train track and noisy trucks at night. Beautiful historical building. Minor issues .. beds were not made while we were out during the day, towels not refreshed, trash cans not emptied.

room was small too much furniture. no AC, no TV, no ceiling fan just a potable fan. no shampoo or conditioner etc in room. it says it’s a Bed and Breakfast , but no breakfast was offered.

This is a house that’s been turned into a hotel. Currently, the house and the 40 acres is for sale by owner so I’m not sure there’s much incentive to do much for people that stay there. No TV in the room. The room was hot. Double bed for 2 people with a horrible mattress. No shower but a stand alone tub in the room with a hand held shower. There were 5 guests there so I think they were full and we probably got the last (and worst) room. We slept so people, we got up and left at 6 am. I would not stay here or at least find out more before you book a room.

It is NOT a bed and breakfast. Coffee and muffins were the only things put out in the morning. Also, check the room details carefully because not all rooms have a shower. It is a quaint historic house.

Requested extra pillows which were never received. Room was advertised as having air conditioning. Only ceiling fan which made room very uncomfortable till around 3AM.

I would have appreciated being informed (prior to the deadline to receive a refund) that our room would have no modern shower. The room included a clawfoot tub with handheld shower attachment (but no curtain to contain the water nor screen for privacy). The tub was located within arm's reach of the bed in the corner of the bedroom on a raised platform. Under different circumstances, this might have been fine. But we were hiking and bike riding and needed a modern shower. When we asked to use a shared bathroom we were told it was out of order. Finally, after contacting hotels.com, the Black Mountain Inn host offered us another room for our second night at a substantially higher price. We left for another hotel with a wonderful shower in a real bathroom and two very nice mattresses in a room which was the same price as the Inn. The host was cold and unsympathetic. Clearly, this was not the first time a guest left unhappy about this room.

Nice room. No info (when’s breakfast; what’s the wifi code, etc) upon check in. No shampoo. Breakfast was sparse
