The Light Hotel

The Light Hotel is just across the street from a beautiful beach at Nha Trang, Vietnam. There are also a lot of restaurants within a 10 minute walk. The hotel itself was comfortable and clean. I would definitely stay there again for my next Vietnam beach trip.

The Light was a satisfactory hotel for a reasonable price. We stayed on the 9th floor and that was probably a good thing due to the thumping music from the ground floor club that opens there at night. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the breakfast buffet was terrific. The room was in very good condition when we arrived, and remained so after every cleaning session. The beds were quite comfortable. It was a little further from the main eating area in Nha Trang, but not so far as to be inconvenient. The pool area was comfortable, and the pool was nice, but as it opens onto the street there is limited privacy to be had there. I would happily stay there again. It's not the best hotel in Nha Trang, but it's far from the worst.

Staff were pleasant but not many English speaking which caused some issues when we had problems. Apart from the lobby/reception/bar area, the hotel was dirty. Sheets and towels were grey (not white), table linen in the breakfast restaurant was filthy! Rooms were not cleaned and made up until late in the afternoon which was inconvenient after a morning of site seeing, shopping and a late lunch. Two times we returned to the hotel at 3-4pm after a day out wanting to have a shower and a rest and could not do so because there were no clean towels. Requests to house keeping were not responded to quickly in relation to this issue. We did have a lovely time in Nha Trang and luckily we are reasonable people and consider that hygiene standards vary in some countries. However, if the hotel continues to promote being 3 star then they need to lift their game.

We arrived very late in the evening, and the hotel had sent a car for us. When we arrived at the hotel, check in went as expected and we were quickly shown to our room. The room was on a high floor with a nice view of the beach. The hotel was undergoing renovation to add a swimming pool, but the work was done during the day when we were out of the hotel. The staf was very nice and apologetic about the work. We were able to use a swimming pool just across the street from the hotel, that was very nice and on the beach. The room was large and comfortable and the buffet breakfast each morning on the top floor was very good with a wide selection of Vietnamese and Western food. The location was very convenient across from the beach and within walking distance of shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay there again.
