Radisson Blu Hotel, Cardiff

The location is amazing, just at the back of John Lewis and close to the station, and we were lucky enough to get parking.

It was an amazing hotel 10 years ago when we last stayed, now it’s rather tired. The room climate control is great, but our duvet was really thin on one side so we were either cold or hot the first night. When we asked for an extra blanket, we got another duvet which had the same problem, but together they worked. The pillows were also like rock so we requested a replacement soft one, which was lovely. We had to ask twice (once in the morning and again in the evening) before we got the extra duvet and soft pillow. The room was clean, except for the room phone which we first used to call reception because the kettle didn’t work, under the handset the phone was awful, full of crumbs and gunk. Breakfast was okay, but very average and given all the coffee shops within a minutes walk, not really good enough. The shower was amazing! It’s such a shame, this hotel was amazing when we stayed a few times ten years ago. The staff are really lovely, but the hotel really needs a refresh and just isn’t up to the standard of the other Blu Radisson hotels, which generally are very reliably excellent.

The location

Well, I have stayed here many times over the years and I feel that it has gone downhill. The room was very basic.

The location is ideal to explore the city. Car parking is convenient. Staff is friendly and cheerful. Room was clean and tidy.

The phone in my room did not work

A short walk to the train station, really excellent facilities, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, really clean rooms.

I could hear the trains as they went past.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room very comfortable and breakfast good but a little on the pricey side.

The breakfast could have been a little cheaper but apart from that I had no complaints.

The location was excellent very central.The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice
