Despotiko Hotel

This hotel is very chic and yet low key and relaxed. Demetrios, the manager, is top notch, and the staff, particularly Manos, were very nice and fun. The buildings are newer surrounding an 1859 historic building which is preserved but used as part of the hotel. We would go back!

Outstanding. The staff goes out of its way to help (for example, the manager spent well over an hour helping us make an onward hotel reservation). Very pleasant decor and ambiance. Beautiful scenery from the room and quiet surroundings. Very pleasant swimming pool. In short, first class service throughout. Close to big city facilities (Volos) and a convenient starting point for visits to neighboring villages.

Great experience! Extremely polite and helpful manager and staff. Brilliant communication skills very flexible service and children friendly. Attention to detail in the reception hall and in the rooms. The family room was perfect for us and three young children. The hotel manager provided all necessary information even organized a horse riding course for the kids! The view from our room was breathtaking and the room service and hygiene was of highest standards. Ideally positioned in the mountains. We found Portaria less touristic than Makrynitsa which is located few kilometers higher up the mountains. We felt that the hotel offered a relaxing and warm atmosphere. It is agreat place to start local walks along the "Kentavron Path" or further up the mountains adventures by car. We will come again!

The despotiko hotel is very hard accese to the main road. VERY SMALL ROOMS if you book through internet. No drower in room. No restaurant in hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at the Despotiko. The staff were most helpful, especially Demetris, the Front Desk manager. The "archontiko" (the old house) is very well preserved but the rooms in the old building are rather small. Apart from that we had a wonderful stay!
