Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Statesville by IHG

If traveling to Florida or the coast this is a great place to stop as very convenient to the highway. The staff is fantastic and very helpful. The location is noisy and busy.

One of the best hotels!! The facility provided excellent customer service. The hotel was very clean. They provided a great breakfast.

Great place

Hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. There was an odor in the hallways and the room, not sure if it was the cleaning products or what. Not horrible but definitely noticeable. Bed was comfortable. We booked this hotel for the pool but the pool was not even in operation so that was disappointing.

The front entrance smelled of cigarette smoke and old ashes as you enter the building. Employee was sitting outside the entrance door smoking. The pool was closed, and that’s the only reason I booked this hotel. Water damaged ceilings. Hallways smelled dirty; unkept. Bathrooms had mold and mildew.

Friendly staff and a very comfortable bed to sleep in, but the bed was far too high for my wife to climb into (she’s 5’3”), and the left side of the bed was terribly squeaky. The toilet was wobbly and way too low; it felt like it was designed for a kindergarten classroom! The shower was lovely and allowed for a nice temperature range and strong water pressure! The elevator was rickety and a little dirty and the 2nd floor hallway smelled of marijuana smoke. The breakfast area and food selection were quite nice - your standard Holiday Inn Express breakfast choices. Overall, an “okay” stay, but not what we normally expect from a Holiday Inn Express.

We stayed here in August 2024 in our way to Tampa for a cruise. Checked in right away and walked into a nice big room with a king bed. Place was spotless and quiet. Dark blinds. Didn’t hear a thing all night long. Had a little sink area outside of the bathroom and a couch area. Breakfast was just ok. We got there late and the place was a wreck. Don’t know how people can get a table that dirty eating breakfast, but staff hadn’t cleaned it yet, so we ate at a dirty table. Other than that, seems like a great hotel. They had a pool and workout area and a place to purchase snacks. Didn’t stick around after breakfast to use anything.

Could hear people from upstairs and outside noise apparent. Walls are not well insulated from noise

Upon arrival, waited to check in, received the guest room keys. After entering the guest room, I noticed the toilet was running and would not flush, called down to the front desk, was advised to come back to see about getting another guest room. Guest room was on the same floor as previously given. The view was of I40. The condition of this guest room was also clean. Concerns I had were minor, not having instructions to operate the TV and the recess lights along the headboard; I like sleeping in the dark, not knowing until my last night the light switch for the recess lights along side the headboard was on the other side of the bed “marked RESET”… had no idea. Better communication to the guest would have helped having a goodnight sleep.
