7 months before our stay I contacted the hotel to ask them if they provided vegan options. I received an email from Zechra informing me that they "offer plenty of vegan options at breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets" and I will find "a variety of delicious choices to suit my preferences". I don't usually stay in non-vegan hotels but we were visiting the island for a wedding and our choices were limited. I was comforted by this response and was genuinely looking forward to our stay. We arrived before check-in and decided to visit the main restaurant for a bite to eat before going to our room. It was immediately clear that there were no vegan options, except plain rice, salad and fruit. I immediately went to reception and asked about the vegan options. I was told I could have rice!! This was completely unacceptable. We were half-board guests, willing to pay for lunch (20 euros each) and to be told that I could eat rice and be charged 20 euros is just poor customer service. I must point out that the staff in the main restaurant were extremely helpful, although I was told that there were 600 guests at the hotel and I was the only vegan. I filled out a form on Sunday morning detailing all of the foods I like but none of them materialised, unless you count an extremely dry, hard, crisp "special" pizza that was prepared for me (I have photos). It was 5 days before the manager came to speak to me - and only after I had made numerous complaints and then said I would be expecting a refund for the food part of my bill. There were no resolutions - this was despite the fact that I could eat easily in the taverna next door - at extra cost to us, of course. I was refused a partial refund. The hotel is extremely glitzy, with beautiful decor, making you feel extremely luxurious. However, if you can't look after your guests - ones that you have made promises too, all of this means nothing.

2nd visit and would recommend with confidence

Our 2nd stay in 2 years here. It’s a great hotel for all. As a family of 2 adults and 2 kids it’s been a great stay. We really enjoyed it. Variety of pools, different activities, and generally a quiet environment which enables it to feel very safe and relaxing. It’s a recommended hotel, and even with a decline in the dining options this year we would still not hesitate to come back, if it was a return to Kos we were after. Dining has declined but is still very good, it is this and some smaller touches that were missing this year to last, however, it’s a very very good hotel, and like many others who return each year we will be back in the future.

Everything was amazing except the food

The food does not meet a 5-star hotel standard. It is clean and tasty, but there is a poor variety. They need more skilled chefs to prepare more sophisticated dishes
