Sands of Kahana

We stayed here 20 years ago & again this year. We stayed 3 weeks. It’s great having 3 bedrooms. No air conditioning was a bit of a concern, but plenty of fans were provided & we were comfortable. The unit was a bit dated, but well maintained. The unit supplies were ample. The beach furniture could use some updating, but we were still comfortable. The restaurant is good. And we weren’t bothered by staff like some places do. Overall it was a good stay.

The pictures on Hotels.com do NOT do it justice. Our unit was at least 1000sq.ft with full kitchen, dining, three bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 porches. Ocean view. My family cannot wait to stay here again! I cannot say enough great things about it. The living room was huge and our view was fantastic.

The Sands was wonderful. The problem was the day before we arrived I got an email saying we were moved to another location. The Villa was nice and clean but a corner dark unit. It felt like a bait and switch skeam. There were dogs crying and barking and next to the highway. They did relocate us to the Sands after a few days when I complained (and asked again why our original reservation wasn't honored)

We had 2 units, 1 group of 7 and a group of 6…the units were way bigger than we pictured & had all the amenities you could want! Would highly recommend for families and larger groups! Two bathrooms, laundry in the unit, dishwasher, coffee maker, fridge, blender, toaster, the list goes on

small beach area was nice. Room was big, had everything we needed. A/C would have been nice to avoid little critters in the rooms, but we managed with the fans that were provided. The room was a bit outdated except the kitchen. Nice for families.

Water in shower / bath smelled of too much chlorine. Water at Beach Club grill tastes of too much chlorine , could not drink it. Lunch , Monte Cristo was absolutely terrible. Our view from our Maui Paradise room was a cement parking lot. Management was non responsive to any of my personal requests. Very disappointed with Sands of Kahana :(

The grounds are nice and suites are spacious. The beach area is really nice. Friendly staff

instructed the front desk to contact a manager as I wished to speak to them twice when a random guest was able to open our locked down with the key card. Still waiting to speak to a manager after 3 days. Would NEVER stay here again.

A quick escape from the flooding in California and this property was a spectacular respite

Very basic. Close to the roadway which allows for listening to full throttle pulls by street outlaws in Honda Civics. Beach has a decent amount of chairs and the pool is equivalent to that of a Motel 6. Food in the area is survivable.
