"Definitely not a 5 star hotel"

1.0

The mattress was quite comfy but sad no duvet. The bathroom big and had many toiletries. Apparently there is 3 pools, we were in one and it was nice and warm.

• biggest problem is AC in bungalow. It’s a small tiny AC for whole house. It’s not a hot season on the island however it was warmer inside than outside. My husband slept on the floor. My kids and I was sweat all night. Before that night we asked for a fan. Reception just sent a guy to check the AC. Then we asked him about fan. They brought. Broken plug… it took 2h for this situation. • the breakfast. Just awful. Couldn’t choose too much even for kids. Hard “pastry”, definitely few days old. Yogurt, bread, cheap sausage, tomato, beans, 1 pancake available at 8am (breakfast time 7-10:30) and eggs. And this 5 start hotel… • I asked 1 fried egg for my 1yo. “Fried egg well done. Very hard yolk” (c) It took probably 20 min to get it and was so runny, I asked to change it. They brought both side fried but still could manage do it runny… I asked to change. Brought same one but more or less hard. And also ordered 2 boiled eggs for second child. Waited probably 40-50mins but they promised 6 min. They brought 6 or 7 eggs and said happy Easter. But it was in so sarcastic way… because I asked to changed eggs… because the baby can’t eat runny yolk… because they can’t do the order. • the stuff was so rude and unpleasant. We understood we won’t stay here another night. We were looking for manager but. He wasn’t at work yet. Only food and beverage manager was around. He was nice and kind. Listened us and tried to help. We said we just want to cancel second night and get these money back. • btw we paid for full board both nights and didn’t eat once. The dinner was so late, our kids were sleeping already. Anyway We’ve been told no one will return money unless booking will decide differently. After my apply it was quite for few days and booking told me the hotel deny my complaint. Anyway I manage to get some money back. That’s a top of the iceberg. I thought 700+ bucks for 2 nights will give me nice experience but… definitely not a 5 star hotel.

"Superb"

I took my four kids, aged 1 to 11, to Zanzibar for a week. I booked the 2 br villa with private plunge pool but on arrival we were given the 2 villas with infinity pools overlooking the ocean. It was so beautiful and private, perfect for letting the kids really enjoy themselves while I also got to relax. The rooms were immaculate, each with a rain shower and huge tub with a view of the pool and ocean. The special bath salts were a nice touch. Nearly all of the staff were incredibly friendly and kind, and helped me out since I was alone with 4 kids. The cement walkway over the tide pools to a lovely lagoon is the perfect solution to Zanzibars extreme tides because it allows swimming in the sea even at low tide. I wonder why other hotels don't construct such a path. We had some nice dishes at the Grand Bleu restaurant, including grilled lobster and pad thai. The home-made Italian style ice cream was delicious. The snorkeling excursion we booked with Mohammed was reasonably priced and relaxed, and the two staff who accompaniedus were great with the kids. Special thanks to Julius at the Grand Bleu restaurant for his kindness; Dully at the main pool bar for tirelessly cutting up our coconuts for us; Juma and Julius (I think our regular servers name was also Julius?) And everyone else at the buffet restaurant for their help and service; the kind server at the pizza restaurant for helping me with the baby; and the amazing housekeepers for doing such an amazing job of cleaning up after 4 kids every day.

This isn't a foodie hotel. The food is fine and the pizza option is great for the kids but don't expect too much. We found the restaurant at the Mat Lai down the beach to be delicious - with great cocktails and desserts as well (rare in Tanzania) - and ended up eating there 4 times. Other small things - there's a towel card situation at the pool which wasn't explained to me at checkin, and ended up being a bit of an annoying process - but again, the staff were really helpful in getting me sorted. The hot water barely lasted long enough for a full bath, so with all these kids taking consecutive baths or showers, the last person sometimes ended up with lukewarm or cold water. The rooms didn't have lotion/body cream, which was unusual. There was no mini fridge. There's always room for improvement but overall, our experience exceeded my expectations.

"Not suitable for the value of money paid."

3.0

Location was good and the staff were welcoming.

We recently stayed at this hotel and were unfortunately very disappointed with the dining options, especially when traveling as a family with children. The hotel features three restaurants – two buffet-style and one à la carte. However, the food selection was extremely limited and not inclusive. Both buffet restaurants primarily offered pork and seafood, with no chicken or vegetarian options available. The à la carte restaurant also exclusively served seafood dishes. As a result, our children were left with virtually nothing suitable to eat throughout our stay. It was incredibly frustrating and disheartening to see them go hungry despite being in a full-service hotel. We expected more variety and consideration for diverse dietary needs, especially in a family-oriented environment. Food is a major part of the holiday experience, and unfortunately, this aspect truly let us down. We hope the management takes this feedback seriously and makes necessary improvements to ensure a more inclusive and family-friendly dining experience for future guests.

"All exclusive"

8.0

I liked the location and the friendly staff

All inclusive is an illusion. Many things were not included and they were exeptionally expensive. We were 4 people in a beach bungalow. 1 bed was very small and placed in the far end from the noisy AC under an even more broken and noisy fan so We slept 3 persons in a double bed 🫤
